Can anyone recommend a cat deterrent for a garden?

New neighbour, new cats and on quite a consistent basis, they crap in the same area of the garden without fail. Pretty much most days of the week. It's got to the point I actually now avoid going into the garden. I chase it off very time I see it, but that doesn't scare it from coming back.

I used a PIR activated water sprayer which was about £30. Connect your hose to it, pop a few batteries in, and it'll sit there until something the size of a cat or bigger wanders past. It'll then spray water up in the air for 10 seconds - every cat in the garden did an instant runner, and soon the number of visiting cats dropped substantially.

I use one of theses https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01DACLHT2/?coliid=IF0POIJK13NIL&colid=1NP2DPBZVIRXG&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it it's gone up a few quid since I bought mine. The only negative I've found is it can go off in bright sunlight.1

If they are leaving their calling cards in the borders, get a load of bamboo kebab skewers and put them throughout the border. They are cheap and you can even chop them in half. Once a cat gets a spike up its arris a couple of times it will go elsewhere.

Just be careful with these sprayers in a hosepipe ban area, you could buy a powerful water pistol, a super soaker type thingy, it would mean either dashing out when you see a cat or lying in wait until you see one come into the garden, which could be a whole new hobby with camouflage gear and dvd,s of Rambo 🤭, I’m sure you won’t but please don’t try and hurt any cats in your quest for a cat free garden….2

Water is their 'pet' hate. Even a squirt with an old squeezy bottle will chase them off. Oh and apparently they hate citrus as well, so maybe put a generous splosh of lime juice, and peel around their chosen spot. But yes, the BBQ skewers work too.Now a gainfully employed bassist again - WooHoo!0

You can’t be serious about putting bbq “Punji” sticks in the garden surely?2
