Dreamworld travel gone bust

Greetings to all..
Please I need help on a very frustrating situation.
I booked a flight for 4 (me and 3kids) with Dreamworld travel back in 2020. The airline was Rwandair. But flight gone cancelled to do COVID-19 pandemic.

The travel agent I have been chasing the 2years now with emails for the confirmed refund but they kept saying it's on process it's with their account department and also that the money should be in my account in 3-4 weeks.
Never received nothing yet.
And now sadly the travel agency has gone bust in July 2022.
My dilema is I paid for the ticket by debit card £2200.
I contacted the airline Rwandair, but all their email is unsuccessful,it failed delivery.

Please help help help.

At this stage, you need to contact the CAA if you were issued an ATOL Certificate. The contact details are on the front page. I fear there may be many in a similar situation who paid by debit cards, which, unlike credit cards, have a very limited time in which to claim, It is obviously no consolation to know there are thousands in a similar situation

Thank you kindly for your help.
But I was not issued ATOL certificate..
It was just an e- ticket.
When I tried to fill in the claim form on CAA website, it does require the certificate.😔
    This is so frustrating...
    Any next suggestion please???

Have you gone through the options in the MSE article linked above, and in particular those applicable to those without ATOL certificates?

I assume from what you say they actually issued you with a valid ticket at the time you booked? That appears to have been an unusual scenario, most had to wait and therefore should have been issued a Certificate. If the ticket wasn't issued when you paid then I would telephone the CAA and explain the situation as I suspect you may not be the only one, as after this time I doubt the card issuer will help.

The last possibility is that the airline hasn't refunded anything, is this the email address you used? reservations@rwandair.com

    Greetings to all.

I am still chasing around regarding refund fro Dreamworld agency which went bust.

I did contact Rwanda air, they wrote it's Dreamworld I need to chase.
Then I rote to my bank requesting refund by charge back, as I paid in full by debit card.
The bank replied that they are unable to help as it's too long ago.
I am so frustrated, this whole situation has been dragged untill all doors are closed.
    Very unfair.

Please any help what next I can do?
I have emails after emails showing I have been chasing but no success.
I read on Martin's info section that perhaps I should try register with Dreamworld travelers insolvency practitioners to request a debt form.

    Any advice how this works?

    Thank you in advance.

The debts of Dreamworld reached £10 million so there is no money to pay creditors, you can register but it is completely pointless. The liquidator's details are  Opus Restructuring Llp 1 Radian Court Knowlhill Keynes Buckinghamshire MK5 8PJ. It is way too late to try a chargeback, the usual time limit is 120 days so you are left with the airline as the only option. If they refuse to refund, you may have to seek legal advice about suing them, not necessarily an easy option, perhaps contact Citizens Advice for a start
  • On what basis would you sue the airline? The contract was with Dream World.

If a ticket is issued by an agent, the contract is with the airline, a travel agent is just that, an agent of the airline. If no ticket was issued, then a claim would stay with the agent, but that is not the case here.

    Good evening,
🥴 ooooh boy...this is getting more unreachable.
When previously I contacted the airline( Rwanda air) they brushed off quick and Said I have to deal with Dream world.
Any chance with ombudsman I should try?
And I can show them all the emails Dreamworld sent me reassuring and guaranteeing my refund?
I am just angry and mentally blown up.
Thank you for your contribution in this matter.
