Hi All
I have been waiting 12 months for my lease car. The car is now to be delivered in early September but the lease company have informed me that it was registered in July. This means the warranty will expire before the lease agreement, making me liable for any faults.
Does anyone know of they can do this legitimately?
Thank you

Ask them about the warranty - that is who you are leasing it from. We can only express our own opinions.

I have, they have said its my responsibility. That's why I am seeking opinions on if they can do this0

Its a pre reg so not new. It should be at least reduced in price. The car should be registered shortly before delivery.0

6 weeks of warranty.
Are they allowed to pre-register cars so far before delivery? Why would they do it before the plate change?

This also begs the question - if it's already been registered why are they delaying supplying it to their customer? (I'm assuming the OP was willing to take the car when it was available).
Edited to add a key missing word.Jenni x1 -
Yes, most dealers and lease companies pre register cars so they can make their bulk commitment with the importer/manufacturer.
A large leasing company might have made a commitment to buy 400 or 500 cars per year from a manufacturer, if it starts looking like they might run short by 50, they will buy them anyway and register them to themselves.
Many lease companies advertise their pre reg lease deals on their websites as "special offers" and usually offer them at a slightly cheaper rate.
Things aren't that usual in the car industry at the moment, so many might not offer them at a cheaper rate but they should state it's pre reg when you make the order offical. So check your paperwork.
If you aren't happy with the way the lease company have treated you, you can raise a complaint on the BVRLA website (presuming the lease company is affiliated).2 -
I'm just surprised there are any cars lying around that have been pre-reg in this current climate.1

Thanks all, I have asked for the term if the lease to be reduced at no additional cost, so the lease ends with the warranty. The car was ordered as a new vehicle, the pre registered and older plate isn't an issue but the 6 weeks or so no warranty certainly is1
