The silly, annoying point about all this is that the system/forum worked until a couple of months ago so no new bug fixes should have been necessary, they just needed to revert to the software that worked (I've given the date it was first noticed) and that would/should be a simple fix not requiring any rigorous processes!3

Came here to say the same thing & found this thread. Looks like it's been an issue for a while.
I last posted on a thread yesterday afternoon some time. Went back in to the forum today - new post, mine. I've been on the forum many times since but it doesn't clear it from being "new" (though I haven't opened the thread since my post as I can see I'm the last poster).
Was the forum setup bought off AliExpress?
Better edit for clarification as don't want anyone getting upset - that was just a joke. Not intending to ruin anyone's day0 -
Still an issue, any progress @MSE_Stephen?0

Would you rather that they roll back to a less secure version, potentially putting everyone's accounts at risk of being compromised to do a quick fix to a very minor bug?
The right thing is to NOT roll back for something so minor and to fix it in the more secure version. Given that it shouldn't take so long to patch (if using the open source self hosted version) unless they are reliant on the forum software vendor doing the fix (as in using the Vanilla SaaS hosted environment) in which case they are at the behest of the software vendor and it may well be quite a way down their backlog to fix.0 -
We anticipate that there will be good news on this issue this week

Is it fixed now? (I'm not sure I'm seeing the issue now).
Edit: it seems to be. After making this reply I went straight to the Site Feedback thread listings and noted that this thread did not show any new post indication.
All that remains re. new post indications is to add the space between the number and the word newJenni x0 -
It is partially fixed in that if you add a comment to a post, when you submit it, the thread count does not show your post as if it was new but the main problem is NOT fixed. After reading a thread, I still have to click refresh or the thread shows it has new posts!0

Hi everyone
Our provider has reported that this issue has now been fixed.Le_Kirk said:It is partially fixed in that if you add a comment to a post, when you submit it, the thread count does not show your post as if it was new but the main problem is NOT fixed. You mention in a previous postwhen I have visited a post and click back to return to the list of posts, the number of NEW posts has not changed
Clicking "Back" on many sites will give you a cached page that has not been updated. I don't think this forum ever had the ability to update in this way.Join the MSE Forum
