Can I please join in for September with £200. That's me and 2 dogs, includes a growing puppy who just eats and eats.
I have borrowed from my future self
The banks are not our friends5 -
My first spend of the new month today. We are going to the open air theatre Saturday with Mum and I said we'd have picnic rather that eat out, so that has bumped up my spend this week. I did have a £1.50 off voucher though so that's something.
My total spend this week £73.59 / £85
I didn't need to buy any toiletries or dog food and we had quite a bit of fruit still to eat so I am a little bit worried that on a week where we do need other stuff we will really struggle. I somehow need to figure out where I am going wrong and how to reduce the spend.Everything is always better after a cup of tea7 -
Can I join please with £250 please.
That's for me, DD who is 9 and my partner who only stays every other week and 2 cats. It will start from today 25th to the 24th September.
I definitely need to reign the food spends in. I always set a budget of £250 a month but always end up dipping into other money or my CC over the month. This is mainly due to takeaways or going out to eat or buying food for work or ready meals for tea despite having food at home that I could cook.
I bit the bullet and added up how much I'd spent in the last month and it was £570 which is insane. That was an even split of seating out and buying food from the supermarket.
So the plan this month is to meal plan and when I go back to school next week to take my lunch in with me rather than buying stuff on the way. I also need to step away from the takeaway!
On the plus side, today is pay day and I've rejigged my budget to take on board rising costs and I've managed to have a NSD which is probably my first iny very long time.
Off to finish reading the August challenge to get some tips.Emergency Fund: £500/£1000

I'll join with £155 for the month
That's for one active vegan female, no pets. Includes food and cleaning products, everything else has a separate budget.
Will hopefully not need the full budget as I should be away for a week in September, but decided to budget the full amount in case there was another rail strike and got stuck.
Lovely to see some new faces on the thread, welcome all!
Thank you elsiepac for organising

I’m in for £350 again this month
Thanks Elsiepac for managing this thread
I’m almost done with August and am
coming in under budget. This is due to us being away for nearly a week though and missing a weekly shop.
I’ve seen a few people here have separate budgets for bulk buying etc which i think would help me as I’m forever stocking up on things we use regularly and it skews my totals.I’m aiming for £350 overall but £300 on grocery and the remaining £50 on bulk buying and alcohol. Fingers crossed that works!8 -

Hi Elsiepac
gill5blue
£250 for September month pleasepaid all debts off 2024 yay6 -
I have got to get a handle on food spending after letting it all drift away in July and August. If what passes for a government decides that any energy price support they offer is targeted to the poorest, then I'm delighted from a moral perspective but stuffed from a financial one as most of my money goes on rent and paying off debt, and there's nothing spare for a £3 grand a year price hike.
Can I set a budget of £200 for September please?
I've wildly missed this before, which is ridiculous for a single person, but I'm hoping I've getting a better handle on it now - I've found a veg box for £15 that covers most of my veg needs for about three weeks with small top-ups, so that limits the supermarket spending, and I'm starting to get a bit of a return from the allotment. My cupboards and fridges and freezers are stuffed. I'm gradually back in work this month after a long summer working from home so I'll need to be careful about prepping lunch at home rather than dashing off late and buying ready made from a supermarket, but at least with the cooler weather coming I might not want quite so many fiddly and expensive salads and I can fill up on soups and stews.
I'm also going to actually look at my spending to see where I can cut down. I tend to think I know what I'm doing and don't need to worry about obvious stuff like not buying branded stuff, then I go and spend fourteen quid stocking up on ridiculously expensive instant coffee because it's £3.50 a can instead of a fiverGrocery challenge September 2022: £230.04/£200

First spend of the month: £56.45 for a Mr T delivery. Got plenty of tins and some cheaper snack/dessert bits than I would normally choose. Hopefully the price hikes will calm down this month, but I'm not holding my breath.

Please put me down for £100 again elsiepac.
This is for one active pensioner from 1st-30th September. I'll carry on in the August thread until the end of the month. Thank you for running the Grocery Challenge, it helps to keep me on track even if I sometimes spend more than intended.Grocery challenge 2025: £650/1500 annual budget7
