Just a general comment re fix offers -  by the time you've asked for advice the offer will have been withdrawn and replaced with something more expensive

    • On the 5th of August the OP was offered Sainsbury's Smooth Renew v18 (or possibly v19), a 12-month fix that was projected to cost £2350 a year.
    • OP didn't take it.
    • Today OP has been offered Sainsbury's Fixed Renew v20, a new 12-month fix that is projected to cost £2760 a year.
    • OP is wondering whether to take it or not.
Unrelated to the above, OP is also having some difficulty navigating the forum (difficulties they didn't have a fortnight ago).
    Have I missed anything?
    Brilliant summary.

I think you missed that the OP does not remember that he was offered a fix for £2350.

+ the OP is having a bad day, (unfortunately on a public forum), and missed 3 posts advising the thread had been moved already.

By the time this is read, in the right part of the forum and understood Sainsbury's fixed renew v21 will be out at circa £3160.

I am amazed that some many on this particular board have swithered about taking fixes when the "bad news" has been all over the press, TV and posted by forum members in just about every "should I ?" topic in the last six weeks.

I think until you've seen how fast the situation is moving it is hard to internalise how fleeting some of those fixes are - people are used to relatively stable pricing for goods thanks to years of low inflation, so unless you spend time on HUKD where a good deal lasts for moments, you expect much the same price tomorrow as it was today. Suppose this is part of the "inflation expectations becoming embedded" thing.
