Fireangel smoke detectors

Flipping annoying! Have 2 different models & getting on my nerves. Occasionally they'll let out a single high pitched beep. As far as I'm aware this means the battery is running low. If that's the case then they've been running low for certainly 12 months, maybe 24 months, so I find that hard to believe. It'll just keep doing it every so many minutes.

I've taken to both pumping compressed air in to every little hole or gap & also taking the hoover with brush attachment to these parts as well. Seems to stop it for a while. Maybe days, maybe weeks but then it comes back.

As I'm close to frisbeeing them off the wall, have any of you experienced these/this?

Why on earth has it censored my thread title? All I typed was the fire of angels. Obviously not that but I'm sure you can figure out which brand I'm talking about from that since this forum wont allow me to say it.

How long have you had them for? Maybe they’re reaching end of life?
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

6-7 years maybe, but they started a while ago. Probably more than 2 years to be fair. I can't remember exactly when, I just remember looking in to it briefly & thinking they shouldn't be doing this.

So while maybe now they may be reaching EoL, they weren't when they started doing this.

And now I'm curious why I'm not allowed to type fire of angel on this forum. Has someone in the powers that be got shares in a rival smoke detector company or something?

Fireangel? If it is fireangle try the fireangel site. There should be fireangel FAQs for fireangel products.

Although, you might have an intermittent fire.

Wired also have a backup battery - the occasional beep is almost certain to be low battery. Most take a 9v PP9 or similar. I believe batteries can be purchased at many shops, although in fairness i have never yet had a tenant able to replace a smoke alarm battery, so you are not alone.
Mr Generous - Landlord for more than 10 years. Generous? - Possibly but sarcastic more likely.

If you really want to know, you could always contact the forum team and ask.

    forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com

It could be because the forum rules state - "we appreciate emotions can run high should you experience poor service from companies, but we cannot accept active calls to boycott organisations as we are unable to verify the service you received."

Lots more info in this link -

Are the alarms still functional, though, if you have been 'pumping compressed air in to every little hole or gap & also taking the hoover with brush attachment to these parts as well'?

We also have two of these alarms and if they beep we press the red button in the centre to reset. If they continue to beep we will replace them. But it's a bit worrying if yours have been beeping for 12-24 months. How safe are you from fire? May be time to remove and replace.

In the UK, most Fire Rescue Services offer a free home fire safety check, I had one and it was they (not just one but three gorgeous firemen!) who fitted our two smoke alarms. You could contact your local Fire Service and ask for the same. We didn't have to pay for the alarms, either. But don't tell everyone! I believe you can apply online, so it couldn't be easier.

Well if that's the reason then that's ridiculous. I'm not calling to boycott. I've had a negative experience of a product. So what, are we only allowed to discuss positive things now & pretend we live in a fluffy airy fairy world? Oh well, moving on

Normal Castle got it, though strange he can say it in a post but I can't say it in a thread title.

plumb - sealed unit. Non-replaceable batteries.

    Have you vacuumed them recently?
Might it be dust causing the issue?
My father advised vacuuming smoke detectors to remove dust (as that might set them off), but this is the guy who taught me German wrong (he was fluent) for his own amusement.
May you find your sister soon Helli.
    Sleep well.

I actually hoovered them last week.

    Had a look, they're about £20 online.

Local fire station sent a guy in a fire truck to fit them for free.

I am well aware of that, but maybe the op doesn’t
