Fear I’m gonna get hit with a big housing benefit overpayment?

First of all check they have the correct date of birth for your non-dependant. They could be taking a non-dependant deduction because the date of birth has been input incorrectly.Second, look at the the notification letters you have received before and after the overpayment was raised to see what allowances / applicable amounts have been used in each calculation. As I mentioned in my previous comment, once child benefit stops, the calculation of your HB will no longer include a dependants allowance / family premium resulting in the overpayment.0

So just depends how long claim has been running.0

Apologies it’s not only the non-dependent charge it’s also to do with how your claim was assessed. Each HB claim that the is non-passported is made up of allowances so this is the amount of money you are allowed to make before your HB is affected. As Xxxx became a Non Dependent you lost the Young Person Allowance for him which meant your income was over the threshold. I did try calling you a few times yesterday to explain it if you would like to give me a call when you can on

Which means your HB claim started before May 2016 so you were entitled to the family premium. Once this was removed, there may not have been any entitlement to HB because you were only receiving a very small amount anyway.

The family premium was about £17/week. There may still be a very small entitlement but that may be reduced to nil because of the overpayment. I'm assuming you now have no dependents at home?As i advised earlier in the thread use a benefits calculator to check entitlement to Universal Credit. You will need to claim this sometime in the very near future anyway because tax credits is ending.0
