If you have a Quality Save, may be what other people call Home Bargains, near you they have the silicone stuff what I think is a pretty good price. I've bought the six cup case/muffin tray one for in my DS's baking hamper and it cost £1.99. Think I'll have to go and get some others though as really like this idea.
Has anyone done any with alcohol?0 -
What an excellent thread! Thanks for all the wonderful ideas and inspiration! They have Thomas the Tank Engine and Bob the Builder silicone ice cube trays in Poundland - I hope that helps someone!0

I've never baked anything since I was about 15
But thinking about trying these, they look so good! Will need to wait until I get paid and buy a silicone tin, is this one ok?

Decided to have a go at the homemade chocs, but a teeny weeny problem has occured...
1st couple of 'batches' look ok so far. :T Then i got creative and remember earlier in the thread, butter was added. I had a bit of choc left in the pyrex jug, reheated it (ding-style) and added a bit of butter. It kinda went butter-icing-like. I reheated that, and ended up with a bit of a stodge (i've disguised it with choc sprinkles...looks like a truffle!!!). SHould i have melted the butter first?
I then made another batch and put some honey rum in, and the same thing happened.
Any troubleshooting advice gratefully received!!!
Also, any advice on how not to lick the spatula every time you stir the melting choc...feeling a bit queasy now....!!!!
many thanks guys!!! x x xMFW decided: 14/09/08

Oh good, you've found my other guilty secret thread. Me and QS actually. You don't need a reason, and if I can make them anyone can...just indulge yourself.Errrm, that link is for a loaf pan - don't you want to make a chocolate slab? If you want to make a chocolate loaf..feel free...will be a lot of chocolate to buy though.

Ooh Drea, these are cool. Would make fab Xmas pressies, you could wrap them up in cellophane and ribbon, very creative and different and fun to make.
Lots of other novelty molds on this website as well.

Couldn't I just fill it a little bit? I can't find any shallow tins that aren't huge, just realised I'm probably supposed to make a few and cut them.
I've been posting on lots of different threads!
I used to have an easter egg making kit when I was younger, I want to find one of them again...Just because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.0 -

I am ok filling molds...did a load of lovely hearts, Winnie the Pooh and Piglet shapes earlier in the year, but my Easter egg was a disaster this year, I had to keep adding layers to the egg mold and I didn't add enough layers and when it set it wasn't thick enough and just disintegrated. Apologised to my niece and nephew and got them a gold Lindt bunny instead.A cloudy day is no match for a sunny disposition~ William Arthur Ward ~0 -

:rotfl: It took ages to get the eggs thick enough, the problem with mine was always trying to close the two halfs. I always had this huge thick band round the middleJust because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.0 -
