Yes, I don't see why you couldn't use cookie cutters as shapes, sounds like a great idea - just be careful not to melt them if they are plastic!

And I think I would use clingfilm rather than greaseproof paper.

The chcolate bar I made had the white bloom on it. I did not cool my chocolate in the fridge. The white bloom can either be cause by sugar or by the coco butter.

The coco butter bloom is usually when the chcocolate is not tempered properly. The sugar bloom is usually when the chocolate is not stored at the right temp. can be cause by being in the fridge or by when it is set warming then cooling again.

I think my milk chocolate got the white bloom on it because it was dairy milk and has a low amount of coco butter so its not really good enough quality to remold.

my first two attempts are cooling as we speak, i have already put some smarties and sugar stands on...so far so good (famous last words).

Has anyone else used the "writing icing" by supercook on your slabs? I'm thinking i should find out before i ruin them xx

Yes, shelley_crow, writing icing does work fine on slabs, particularly the lighter colours. I've also used it as a glue and stuck hundreds&thousands and other sugary treats on... (Using it as a glue also disguises any blobby mistakes too!;)

I live in the pub, pop in for a drink. :D
Thanks for the invite... Actually I had a strange experience yesterday, I went in a real pub by myself (Friday lunchtime) to use their wi-fi connection (on my new birthday laptop, I'm awaiting wi-fi at home) and while there went into MSE's 'pub' the 'Money Savers Arms'. It felt strange not interacting with the real pub goers, but chatting to the [STRIKE]virtual[/STRIKE] online ones! (Much more interesting of course! :D )

Despite all my chocolate making with my two boys, we popped into town today and they bought me a box from Thorntons for tomorrow - not that I'm complaining! :rotfl:

I don't do real pubs as I don't drink, so I like the Arms. :D

Well I was going to go in Starbucks for the internet, but apparently its more complicated to get access for a non-computer-literate person like myself - or that was the impression the Starbucks serving person gave me... (cheeky, wasn't she? ;) )
Incidently, Jem8472, Dairy Milk 'not good enough quality? ' Its my favourite type!...

yes if you look at a bar of dairy milk it is around about 20something% coco butter, which is very low when you are trying to cook and do stuff with it.
I agreee that is is one of the best tasting chocolates out there but just not great for cooking with!
