Aye, I'm certainly considering it! I made chocolate slabs for my friends for christmas, and made mini chocolates for my mum for her birthday. Everyone enjoyed them, but, as others have detailed described, they tended to melt almost as soon as you touched them, and had quite an 'airy' texture - similar to wispa bars in that aspect. I'd love to be able to do it properly, so I am thinking about tempering. Where's the best place to get a thermometer for a reasonable price? I'm assuming that you need a special one for tempering?

Ooh! Lots more people doing chocolate making properly ie. tempering. Jem8472 you have started a trend! :D And speaking of which, are you keeping where you got your thermometer a secret :shhh: - just between you and Spudnik?

I'm sure theres still a gang of us that are using other methods such as 'winging' :D - Loublue, have you ordered your chocolatey bits & bobs yet? :D

Its so cute! Its a bath thermometer which would make a nice alternative easter gift - couldn't use it for tempering chocolate though - or maybe you could? :rotfl: ...

My school report used to say "easily distracted" - I wonder why? :D

Saw these Easter eggs in Tesco tonight. Thought they might give some ideas for all our homemade eggs. I also really like the half egg full of choccies.

Ive got a thermometer that ive used for wax before. Would it be safe to use with choccies? Was thinking if i just boiled it then it would be ok but not sure.

    talking of half filled eggs.......

these are lovely IRL ,went to a choccy party last night :D

so you guys with your egg moulds ,could make some pretty chocs place in petit four cases, and put inside, save all the faffing about trying to "stick" the 2 halves of egg together!

wrap in cellophane and add a bow / ribbon and it will look really effective :)
