£200 more (on my usage) a year than on Smooth Renew v20
Glad I took the v20 before it disappeared...

Looks like we should stay on v20 regardless if it's more expensive than the cap tomorrow looking at current predictions.

    Yes. I agree.
  • Same boat here. Got an email 3 days ago offering smooth renew v20, going from £107pm to about £300pm. I'm on holiday so thought I'd have a look at it when I got back. Heard the news this morning, found this thread and suddenly realised I should sign up for it ASAP. Clicked the renew link in the email, was only the smooth renew v21 on offer, for about £330pm. Signed up for that immediately before it disappeared.

Can't believe waiting three days cost me £30pm. Are they under no obligation to honour the v20 offer they emailed just three days ago?

Like others, I feel quite sick. I had a couple of opportunities to fix for 2 or 3 years last year too, which I turned down. This is gambling.
  • No obligation to keep an old tariff open just for people who might have been slow signing up.  That would be mad.
  • Thanks. Didn't realise I had to react so quickly. It's all so confusing and frankly a bit scary. No certain if the tariff I've signed up to is actually below the Oct 1st price cap but it will be well below the Jan price cap if things pan out as expected.
  • I'm still on the Fixed deal til next year but also can't find either the current SVR or the October rate. I've emailed them to find out both and will post the response on here. I'm assuming it will mirror the OFGEM cap but I want to know for sure.
  • Anybody know what happens now for those of us who signed up to the higher fixed deal for a year?  Presumably we can back out and go onto a cheaper tariff at the new announced price cap or the tariffs will be amended perhaps?

At least some fixed tariffs will get a discount, and some fixed tariffs might have their exit fees removed.

EON have told me I can stay on my fixed tariff at 42p/kWh or transfer to SVT free of charge @ 34p/kWh.
and the confusing thing "SVT will be reviewed on or after 31/12/2022".

  • Just wondering if anyone else here signed up to v20 and how it compares to govt freeze, mine is due to start 1st Oct but I'm not sure whether to stick with it or move:
