    Thanks GreenCustomer.

I've just pulled the trigger on the SRv20 1yr fix. Feel sick now. Off for a lie down (and I'll be switching everything that's on OFF along the way!).

Aside from the 14 day cooling off period to take me beyond the 26th Aug cap announcement there's no exit fees on the SRv20 so I've got that to fall back on if the capped SVR ends up taking an unexpected nose dive!
I've just pulled the trigger too.  Had a slight panic when it said I'd be paying £298 from now on - until the dashboard confirmed it's not until 1st Oct.

    Hoping for a mild winter!

Yes, it wasn't very clear (in fact no upfront information at all!) when the new tariff would take place until after you've switched! The confirmation email is thankfully also clear on that point with its stated 'Start From' date (1st Oct for me).

Think you've done the right thing. EDF have stopped offering fixed rates due to the price rises, statement on their website, others might follow suit.

Could that just be for new customers? Sainsburys aren't offering any fixed deals to new customers (in fact they don't appear to be taking on new customers at all!) and the 'Smooth Renew' tariff name they've been offering here does hint at it being an existing-customer targeted tariff.

No it's in my account, no fixed rates
  • Just agreed to the smooth renew. Horrendous.  Payments forecast to go from £125 to £385 a month.  We’re in a 2 bed detached bungalow, so now seriously need to figure out where we can cut back.

    Rates we have been offered in West Yorkshire as follows;

    Electricity
    Unit price59.42p per kWh
    Standing charge48.53p per day

    Gas
    Unit price15.03p per kWh
    Standing charge27.22p per day

If that's the current prices then I think they have a computer glitch somewhere:

    1971.59 - (365*0.4853) / 2166 = 0.828p/kWh ?!

I think the October prices will actually be less than this fix, but the January/April prices next year might be higher.

Maybe it varies depending on where you live? I have no idea

Looks like EonNext/Sainsbury have moved on to the next version

1 Year Smooth Renew v21 showing as an option in my Sainsbury account.

    Elec  67.704p per kWh
    Standing charge 43.39p
    Gas 16.9638p per kWh
    Standing charge 27.22p

£200 more (on my usage) a year than on Smooth Renew v20
Glad I took the v20 before it disappeared...
