More interesting is that "environmentalist" Al Gore owns 40% of octopus and presumably takes 40% of the profits. tokio marine takes a chunk too. They're a private company so release less info about such things.
They have a publicly traded energy generation company that doesn't seem to be benefiting from higher energy prices, so perhaps has a long-term fixed price contract with octopus where prices haven't gone up in the last year.
It's a very clever company and its a shame we can't all share on their success. Only a few private elites can0 -

The chap that set up Octopus Energy used to run a mirror manufacturing company and a property letting company. If he had knocked on your door 10 years ago, would you have offered to invest in his start up energy and technology company?1 -

Throughout my working life I have found HR absolutely useless. Yes, good if there is a disciplinary meeting but they are there for the company not the staff member.
So way to go Octopus!0 -
As of last month, Octopus has secured an additional $US325M of investment including an additional $US255M from of its original key investors: The Canadian Pension Plan Investment Board.
‘The company plans to use the money to further improve its energy technology platform, Kraken, and invest in products and solutions that can help solve the energy crisis and drive renewables at scale.’
Kraken is a big money earner for Octopus. The billing platform is now used by a number of UK suppliers and energy companies around the World (Japan; USA; Germany; New Zealand).Octopus - as an energy producer - now powers homes in the UK, Germany, the USA, Japan, Spain, Italy, France and New Zealand.0
