I love the Asda rewards. Money builds up so quickly and I regularly have between £10 - £20 off my shopping.
I used the Christmas saver for a few months and got £60 off my shop

Anybody been able to work out how Asda Rewards works!

It is the most confusing of the loyalty schemes for me, i purchased coffee for £1.99 and got £3 in my cash pot but nothing for a second purchase i got a pizza £5 and got £5 in the cash pot and £2 next time followed by £0.

I know with Nectar price you get a great price on an item but the discount gets less if you keep purchasing it in order to get you buying something regularly but the Asda version seems all over the place.

Its not that difficult, some product lines carry a bigger reward. For example at the moment I have nine different "missions"....

    - Spend £4 on jam/spreads in one shop, earn £1
    - Buy three chilled pies in one shop, earn £1
    - Spend £10 on boxed chocolates and earn £1 (can be over multiple shops)
    - Spend £5 on laundry products in one shop, earn £1
    - Spend £3 on butter/spread in one shop, earn £1
    - Buy three Asda branded frozen items, earn £1.50 (can be over multiple shops)
    - Spent £20 on petcare, earn £2
    - Spend £10 on Extra Special steak, earn £1
    - Buy three Food To Go meal deals, earn £1.50 (can be over multiple shops)

Open the app up and look in the Earn section, your offers may be different.

On top of that you have the usual milestone thing where you earn 50p (increasing up to £1) for every £50 you spend, although this resets every month or so.

As for the pizza, there was a pizza offer recently, one time only, hence why you get a reward the first time but not the next. These are all in the app you know, its not a secret.

I'm another fan of the app - just keep an eye on the star products and away you go! I'm not a big spender in the grocery department but have earned over £100 in about 9 months.

I'm not a fan of it.  Asda was always the cheapest supermarket of the main ones.  The minute they brought out this scheme the prices shot up.  I am hardly ever in there now and I shopped at Asda most of my life.  More often than not Tesco is cheaper and that was never the case.  I only cherry pick at Asda now.  Their FAB 5 is new and has very good prices on 5 fruit & veg.

One thing I noted that really rattled my cage, Asda has a single sign in for Home Shopping, Gift Cards and the Rewards scheme.  I had £200 on their Christmas Savings Scheme last year.  Because Asda knew this, the bonus offers dried up for me.  People were sharing on HUKD the offers they were getting around Christmas, like spend £100 over the month get £10 in your Cashpot.  I was getting rubbish like spend £50 get 50p in the Cashpot because they knew I would be spending my money there anyway because of card balance.

So when the card was emptied, I binned it and removed it from my account.  If and it's a big if I decide to save for Christmas this year, I will not register the card so they don't know what my balance is.

Don't think of it as a reward scheme, but a savings scheme as they have marked up the prices accross the store in order to give you this money back. So they are taking it off you on one hand and giving you it back.  I know what I have written will likely go against the grain of those that think it's the best thing since sliced bread, it ain't.  Asda previously always maintained they didn't need a loyalty scheme as they had low prices instead, well they don't now.

You have to keep an eye on this. I spent at least £25 more than I expected to last month, so this month its slim pickings for me at Asda. I can foresee the spend and save mission on my profile being scaled back to something far more reasonable!

  • Hello

I don't own a smartphone and don't intend to own one.

Asda rewards scheme is available online without going through an app.

I registered and printed the barcode and scan that at Asda.  I log in online to check the balance, and to also create vouchers which I print and scan at Asda.

The Christmas cashpot is not available through the site, it's app only, but a workaround is to use a separate Christmas savings card.  Create a voucher, use it toward shopping then top up the separate savings card with the amount saved from the rewards voucher.

An advantage to this workaround is that the savings card has a two year spend limit.

Online rewards and the app are not compatible, it's either one or the other.

    Edit to the original post.

I print the vouchers at home and then scan them at Asda.

Apologies, I couldn't find an edit function.
