All the big supermarkets have loyalty schemes these days such as Tesco, Sainsburys etcA lot of people saying how ASDA rewards is so good. I am a bit cynical.Yes compared to nectar points or tesco clubcard, you do accumilate points fast. Thse ceased to be an incentive to shop in one supermarket over another and everyone just got cards with every supermarket and just the card on whichever supermarket they were shopping at.But to draw a comparison between asda rewards and clubcard/nectar is wrong.Asda rewards should be compared to nectar discounts and clubcard discounts. Tesso started it off with discounts for clubcard members only. You will get 50p/£1 off items just for using your clubcard.tesco will give you money off your bill for that, there and then. With asda you accumulate the credit on your app to use against a later purchase.Asda rewards creates a great optics of savings. And muddies the conventional mysupermarket price comparison. Now people can't fairly compare with all the hidden prices and all that.IMHO consumer watchdog should get involved and ban all these hidden/member pricing and give everyone one fair and consistent price. Because right now it's impossible to compare supermarkets. How much is a 40x jaffa cake now? Who the f*** knows. Supermarkets have 2 different prices for members and non members. So, back to Retail Price Maintenance, then? Same price in every shop, just in case someone may pay more than another person?no I mean a store has one same price for all customers no cashback, no special discount for members. no discriminations or lock ins. ASDA rewards especially are gamefying shopping so people just stick to the same supermarket and confuse consumers so there is no way to actually compare prices any more.Insurance companies were forces to no longer give new customer discounts. Because they were seen as exploiting people who were just too busy to shop around. Supermarkets with their gamefified shopping experience give people the illusion they're saving money when they are probably not.ASDA have a fricking spin the wheel thing every so often after you shop, and their graphic design is like a scratchcard. As I said before. ASDA just gives an illusion of savings, because you build up £ credits in your account. WHere are clubcard/nectar prices give you money off the shop at point of sale.1

I have 2 questions on using the Adsa Rewards app which I hope you "experts" can help with. I only downloaded the app this week and have accumulated £10:48p in the cash pot from 3 small shops. When you convert to a voucher(s) to redeem do you have to convert a whole amount in one go eg take out £5 and leave balance of £5:48 in the cash pot or can you convert £5.48 to a voucher leaving £5 in the cash pot?
The second question concerns the BLC 10% discount (I read that @Rosa_Damascena might be an expert on its use). I only joined BLC and linked to Asda Rewards and used for the first time yesterday. I see from the Asda web page the restrictions on products eligible but I am able to understand how the amount rewarded was arrived at. Ignoring the fresh vegetables I gained an extra 13p from spending £1.50 on 2 loaves of Asda Toastie Bread (1 white, 1 wholemeal) and 80p on pack of 6 rolls from the bakery counter and £1.25 on Philadelphia cheese spread. Which of these products are eligible? Can anyone point to a more definitive list of what is eligible? Many thanks0 -
You convert whole £s to vouchers.BLC should give 10% on fresh and bakery so 13p seems a bit odd for your shop as all of those items should have given the discount unless they were Basics range in the yellow packaging. I received it on Asda crumpets. It may be that you have mis-calculated the discount on the rest of the shop. All fresh meat, fish, fruit and vegetables, ready meals, chilled and dairy, bakery and flowers.

Thanks @molerat. You ave confirmed I should have received more in my cash pot. None of the products were from the Essentials range. I purchased cauliflower (£1), cabbage 59p, potatoes (£1.29), Cherry Tomatoes (60p), The Bakery at Asda Toastie - 1 white 1 wholemeal (£1.50), The Bakery at Asda 6 white rolls (80p) amd Philadelphia Spread (£1.25) Total spend £7.03 so was expecting 70p in my cashpot not 52p I received. Unfortunately unlike the Star Product award award, the BLC award does not indicate which products were valid. I was wondering if this was just a blip/error this time (my first BLC shop).0

Strange. Never had any quirks, my BLC is always spot on to what I calculate.

Cheers molerat. I will have to hope for better outcomes going forward. I do think its strange that for example frozen veg such as peas/ green beans are excluded whilst ready meals (I assume non-frozen) are included but hey ho we must grab the discounts we can.0

60p cherry tomatoes are Essentials as are £1.29 potatoes. That brings your discountable shop to £5.14 so 52p BLC.1

Did not not realise the cherry toms are Essentials (sorry). Nothing on shelf label to saythe sweetheart cabbage was "manager's special" so must be included in the exceptions along with Essentials and Smart Price ranges. Thanks for the info.0
