We have just discovered that a couple of trees in the school grounds near to us are edible cherries!!
They are not ripe yet, but im just wondering if we get permission, what could we make with them (perhaps something that the school could even sell for fundraising if they are made by someone with a food hygiene certificate)
Can you make jam out of cherries, never seen any?0 -

Thanks!
Apologies for not finding the other thread, I searched 'cherrys' not 'cherries' before I made this thread and found no threads (doah!):o0 -
I have just been given 2kg fresh cherries and wondered if anyone had any good suggestions of what to do with them. I am thinking of having a go at cherry jam - however have been told cherries don't have much pectin in them but would I overcome this by using jam sugar? I have only made blackberry jam before but managed that ok! My other idea was to cook them and freeze them then use them in pies/crumbles.
Does anyone have any other ideas or any recipes for me?
Thank you0 -
