Blinds that fit into window frames without any drilling - any good?

  • We have just had these fitted by a local company on all the windows at the front of the house and love them, look very stylish. The only thing I would say is that we have had new anthracite windows (with white frames inside) and got the white blinds and frames. Look great from inside, but from the outside you can see a thin white line around the inside of the grey window frame, and you can see part of the clips. They would be much less noticeable with white outside window frames.

I have this type of blind at my conservatory windows aswell as some house windows, and some half glazed doors  - they are the best type in my opinion.

For what you're requiring i would suggest setting parameters to: honeycomb, thermal, blackout, as these provide the coolness in summer and retaining warmth in winter.

They come in all colours - i have all mine in white.

24/7 Blinds and Unbeatable Blinds are what i use.

I would like to have these on a bay window that has 4 panels. The panels are already quite narrow, do the fittings reduce the size of the visible window significantly?

I had these blinds fitted by a local company. They were significantly cheaper than Hilarys. When raised, they concertina at the top of the window, so will cover part of the top of the window.

Just curious. So these lightweight concertinaed blinds are mounted with clips that slip under the rubber DG seals? Clever.

How adjustable are they, and how is this done. Ie, from fully down to fully up, and stages in between? What holds them in these positions?

I really like the look of theses but could see an issue if you wanted the windows open over night.

Thanks Frug - so it's fully framed. Nice.

They adjust very well and are robust.

The bottom bar of the blind is attached to tensioned cord within the frame surrounding the blind/window.  ( not sure of technical term)

  • We had "Perfect Fit" blinds on almost every window at our old house, they were ideal.  No issues at all.  We used https://www.conceptblindsdirect.co.uk and DIY'd the measuring and fitting.  You need to be pretty precise, but there is a little bit of tolerance.

I've got an alternative type on a couple of windows here, as we didn't have enough clearance on the window frames for the full blind frame.  "INTU" blinds don't have a frame, just 2 bars that fit at the top and bottom of the glass and a tensioned cord up each side.  Much more minimalist!  They've also been good.  I got them from the same website above, but they don't seem to supply them anymore.
