Even when you do get through on the phone, they refuse to discuss anything tariff related or pass any complaints on or put you through to a supervisor/manager. Very rude on the phone and is literally if you don't like it leave attitude.0

The staff are likely on minimum wage and facing the same increases as you are with their energy if UK based. They are no doubt getting hundred of calls daily and facing many abusive customers who they can do little to help as Ofgem set the cap, suppliers are working to fine margins, there are limited choices with the tariffs available. You have had a good fix, alot of people myself included have been paying these higher rates for a number of months now, it's had plenty of media coverage so should come as little surprise, although when you do see it in black and white reality does really hit home.TRON said:Even when you do get through on the phone, they refuse to discuss anything tariff related or pass any complaints on or put you through to a supervisor/manager. If you are going to struggle then you will seriously need to discuss with your energy supplier but they will not be in any position to offer you tariffs cheaper than what they have available.9 -
Has gotten to the point even if you work 72hrs a week is not enough to live on in the UK anymore. People can not afford 200-500% increases in bills when wages never go up and barely 1-2% a year.savers_united said:

These energy companies are just going to have millions of people just not paying and being forced into debt. They won't get their money because people don't have it to give.0 -
I should think that they are getting pretty fed up with customers phoning up to complain about energy prices. Ask yourself, what do you expect them to do to help you?TRON said:Even when you do get through on the phone, they refuse to discuss anything tariff related or pass any complaints on or put you through to a supervisor/manager. They must also be getting pretty fed up with the ‘weight’ of emails that they are getting on this subject but they do at least have some influence over policy.2 -
When you made the decision a few days ago not to take the offered fixed tariff you made the decision to stick to SVT for good. No use in complaining how expensive new fix offered now is. You already decided you don't want a fixed tariff, it was clear that fixed rates will go up and not down.
So you can only wait and see what the SVT will be when Ofgem week announces the October cap. It should be slightly cheaper than the first fixed tariff offered to you, especially for gas.
The big issue are the predictions for January and April, but the reliability here is still ok to real guessing, so maybe we all get lucky.1 -
We didn't make any decisions, we were still deciding, discussing, looking at options and thinking about it. Scottish power didn't inform their customers they put all there prices up again on Monday. We didn't get any communication from them saying there was a deadline on the offer either and since we had until 31st August until our tariff runs out we thought we had time to think about our options.pochase said:When you made the decision a few days ago not to take the offered fixed tariff you made the decision to stick to SVT for good. Our current tariff does not run out until the 31st of August but in the space of a week they changed the new offer from £150+ a month to £209 a month....
We currently pay £69 a month with £20 in credit at the moment.0 -
Pretty much all suppliers are changing prices on an almost daily basis as predictions for the next years price caps change. If the predictions are higher the prices become higher. Any tariff that is considered good will often last just a day before it's pulled.TRON said:

for quite a while a no. of people on this forum have been suggesting to people to take the offer & use the 14-day cooling off period to consider/reconsider as tariffs have been getting pulled.TRON said:We didn't make any decisions, we were still deciding, discussing, looking at options and thinking about it.
