Lyca Mobile Problems

I ported in on the Monday and obtained the PAC on the Tuesday, ported back out on the Wednesday. No apology necessary. Thanks for the information. It was me being too impatient to receive a PAC! Provided, via SMS, the day after porting in and used the day after that.
How was the porting in process?
I got a PAC code from my old provider and input the required details to port in the number over to the Lyca SIM. Today, on the chosen Transfer Day, my old phone (old network) has stopped working, but my new Lyca SIM (the new network) is also inactive.
Any suggestions on how long it takes to complete?0 -
The port in went as expected, the day I chose when submitting the PAC.I did lose the losing provider's signal but it wasn't until later afternoon the Lyca service was functioning with the prted in number.Have you tried rebooting the phone with the Lyca SIM installed?I did receive a SMS from Lyca confirming the port in.Good luck if you try contacting them, it's virtually impossible by phone and their online chat is useless!I've now seen in another thread that it was eventually successful John.1

It was a bit more complicated/tense than previous PAC transfers I have done with other networks. The downtime was a little longer than expected and I think because of the lack of confirmation e-mails and errors during the initial transaction, it had me wondering if they had messed things up.
I completely agree on their lack of customer service which is a shame!
Yes, I kept rebooting the phone and eventually after 7PM (my old network SIM had stopped working at 10AM) the Lyca Mobile SIM was reactive with my number and the Transfer complete.
On the other hand, I will give Credit where Credit is due on Lyca Mobile sending a PAC code to someone who wants to Port out. A friend told me it was almost like the PAC was received from Lyca before he had hit Send. Milliseconds.
If Lyca could revamp their entire website, their Porting forms and automated procedures, they'd do a lot better I reckon.0 -
I am now in the process of leaving Lycamobile. Like others I found the process of them accepting my PAC a bit of a faff, but it did work in the end. Their forms aren’t very clear in terms of what info is meant to be provided but with some trial and error it was all fine in the end. The app is a bit clunky, quite old fashioned, but it does work. And I was only charged 1p/month 😬 so can’t complain too much I guess, you get what you pay for! It definitely felt that I was dealing with an overseas company and not a UK one given how many times I had to select a UK option.
I found the data coverage pretty awful. Some calls simply do not work, eg some 034 numbers for some public services.
My only issue now is that, like another poster, I cannot receive a PAC from 65075. I get the same “Sorry, your PAC request has failed for the mobile number 447…. Have contacted customer services via email, hopefully someone can sort.
By comparison, I went to India earlier this year and bought a temporary Lebara SIM for a spare phone. The transition was incredibly smooth, similar to Giffgaff a few years ago.0 -

Same here! Deeply frustrated. I only joined Lyca a couple of weeks ago but this weekend's SNAFU has put me right off so I'm jumping ship.
My wife had also signed up and hadn't yet managed to port her number, so she's just reverted to her old provider for now.
It's annoying as Lyca was the only affordable way to get on the EE network, which happens to have better signal round these parts (Forest of Dean). Better signal doesn't do you much good when the network is broken though.0 -

I found a way of getting through to a "human" on their "Help Desk" after about ten attempts. I wish I hadn't bothered. Their operatives are completely useless. Trying to resolve issues via email is futile. My advice is to have nothing to do with these charlatans and find a mobile operator that has respect for its customers.0

They have now admitted to being attacked. They mentioned here that their number porting functionality has also been affected and that they can't issue PAC codes for now.
Cannot post links yet but it's lycamobile-co-uk/en/update, just replace - with .
I am thinking of abandoning my old number to at least protect myself somehow but I can also imagine how much hassle it would be to replace my contact details with everyone that knew my previous number.

The PAC request service is finally working for me and I've signed up for IDMobile instead.
I'm still unable to log in to Lyca but here's a useful tip if you want to make sure your bundle doesn't renew:
1. With your Lyca sim in, dial *190#
2. Enter '1' to confirm the cancellation
Hopefully this means I'm now free of Lyca's clutches, assuming the port request actually works. I wish ID all the luck in the world when it comes to communicating with Lyca. My attempts via email and Twitter have been completely fruitless.
Now I just need to fret about which of my personal data has been stolen by hackers.1
