  • From experience, I think I will close my Ebay shop for a few days either side of the dates.

The 26 and 31 August could have a big impact on online traders. 29th is a Bank Holiday in most of the UK (not Scotland). So if you sell something on Aug 25th and send 2nd class, next day, it's unlikely to arrive until Sep 1st at the earliest. If there's a big backlog that could be pushed until after the second round of strikes.

There are already calls on the eBay discussion boards to ask eBay to adjust delivery estimates accordingly, from past experience though even if they say they will it is best not relied on. I am not selling a lot at the moment anyway so late defects will hurt me percentage wise so I will probably put my holiday settings on but allow sales as that recalculates the despatch time automatically.

I've never allowed sales before when in holiday settings. I'm thinking it may be an option. Do you get much grief from buyers?

I don’t do it for long periods so haven’t had any issues. Usually if I were going away for some 10 days I would put my holiday settings on to end the day I come back and block sales. Then say 3 days before I was due back I would start allowing sales so in effect even if someone bought immediately I would still be posting on day 4 , which is only 2 days later than normal.

I'm debating what to do, as if I get my next eBay FVF offer as expected I'd be looking at posting on 30th or 1st, either date isn't going to work well.

It's good to see that ebay has announced that it will be protecting sellers whilst the RM industrial action is ongoing, including protecting late delivery metrics and removal of neutral or negative feedback that mentions items being late.

Have they mentioned about extending expected delivery dates or can buyers still open cases within the same timeframe?
