Maybe some lower end models you can, just in my experience though... Or maybe you can unlock them like that, but obviously can't de-brand them without a cable and software to flash it with the new "standard" firmware. Certainly makes a massive difference rather having that having the crippled features and low res icons from the network supplier.0

all (if not all, most) SE phones can be unlocked by a code from the network provider.Maybe some lower end models you can, just in my experience though... debranding cannot be done without a cable.

I just had my Sony Ericsson K800i unlocked in the local market for £15.I was lucky because it was on Vodafone network and they can be unlocked.0
