Has the 1st post been edited or deleted or what? There's no detail about the price of anything, and the title says something about a partner? Huh?
To summarize, the original post was something like, I want to knock £15k of my offer half way through because bad economic times are forcasted. My partner doesn't think we should but I did the same thing on the last purchase and I got a reduction so want to try and do it here. What do people think?

If you live in the house for a reasonable amount of time (years) the 15k will seem peanuts. I think we paid too much for the house we live in but love the place and couldn't care a fig about that possible overspend years ago.

Will be good to get an update.

Did OP ask for the the discount and what was the outcome.

If OP asks the vendor and it's a no, they can still purchase at the original agreed price I would think.

I didn't see the original opening post.

If they are talking about just having had a survey done and wishing to renegotiate based on that, personally I don't class that as gazundering.

If they are talking about being some way down the line post survey and only now going to try and drop the price as exchange nears then yep that is gazundering.

As for gazundering "sensitively" lordy, just own your actions OP. You say you've done it before so just get on with it.  You can't polish turd like behaviour.

If I had to entertain the idea of gazundering pre-exchange for no reason other than the buyers trying it on, the retribution would cost them in the long run.

They could forget any good will gestures like:

    instructions for appliance
me leaving any blinds/curtains that I won't have use for
    deep cleaning before I leave
    etc

Not sure that would make or break a deal. Who really wants someone else's secondhand curtains and doesn't everyone clean when they move in? Instructions might be useful but you can just get on the internet. Would rather have it all gone.
I think as a seller now you have to consider what's happening in the market.

People are funny for all sorts of reasons. Our sellers were nice to us through the process. In the end they had to pay £200 for a couple of indemnity policies and then all the "good will gestures" disappeared.
Like others have said, if the vendors are desperate they might have to swallow the price reduction. In most cases, it leaves a bad taste and if they can, they will pull out of the transaction.

Oh gosh I’m buying my first house and would cry with joy if there were curtains left. Yeah you’d probably replace them eventually with ones you like but I’m not sure what I’m going to do initially - safety pin a bedsheet onto the curtain pole or something??

I mean it’s not a dealbreaker in a purchase this size clearly but still…
