Well done. Even buying with the head and not the heart, if you don't get the 'feeling' it's right, you haven't found the place.

Thank you. My thoughts exactly, it's not worth it when you have doubts, it's not a cheap endeavour!

Not read all messages so apologies if I duplicate points already raised.
When we bought our house, the focus was on finding a permanent base to settle.
We'd seen 2 houses in the area we live in now, our home and another property.
The other property needed a lot of work as was quite tired and had a few issues but the view from the lounge was stunning.
Our home was a completed new build (buyer pulled out) and lacked soul. We were not fans of new builds either.
We really couldn't choose between the 2 at the time but put an offer in on the other property to reflect what we thought it was worth with the work that was required.
Our offer was rejected quite quickly and we felt it wasn't worth more to us so we offered on the new build and we're accepted. We now live in a new build house.
Yes, we look like we will need nearly all tiled floors ripping up and relaying as it wasn't done properly, yes there are other issues with the house, but despite that we have made it our home and brought it in to our liking.
We learnt to love what we have but for us, we didn't have doubts or second thought, we were primarily just tired with life and wanted a home. Plus we felt guilty 3 of our cats had lived in a new home for every year of their life and the eldest was nearly in double digit homes (we'd moved around quite a bit).
I think its important if you feel you can settle in somewhere. You can adapt to not having a dining room or one lounge but you have to know what you need from a place to call home.
We looked at properties that were nice and had what we wanted  but our guts told us they weren't for us, I think yours is saying similar.
Also the new build flat we offered on that fell through was due to finish September 2020 but completed April 2021.
May you find your sister soon Helli.
    Sleep well.

I've posted to say that we've withdrawn on the first house and had an offer accepted on the second.

However, I completely agree with what you've said. It wasn't the one. When we had our offer accepted on the second I was 10x happier and more excited, as was my husband. You need to be certain on a purchase like this and doubts don't have a place in an expensive purchase.
