Is there a time limit for warranty repairs to be completed?

I bought an electric scooter back in March from Amazon and it developed a fault.

I contacted the manufacturer directly beginning of May and they agreed to repair it under warranty.

It's been with the repair shop since mid May. Every time I email them I never get a straight answer.

Can I claim a refund or replacement from the manufacturer or Amazon if its taking too long.

If you are dealing with the manufacturer, rather than the retailer, then your rights are limited to those under the manufacturer's own warranty-what does it say?
To enjoy your statutory rights under CRA2015, you need to have claimed direct from the retailer.

Do you mean an e-scooter or a mobility scooter?  There is a world wide problem with availability of electrical components which may be impacting their ability to give a date for the work.  That doesn't mean they shouldn't be explaining the situation to you.  I would write to them giving them a fixed date for repair and saying that if they can't fix by then you want a full refund or replacement.

I think I'm dealing with the manufacturer? Not sure. Its a company called Niu, I did the claim via email directly from their site, not Amazon where I purchased it. Would this make any difference?

The longer it's off the road the better 😉

Seriously though, if you're dealing directly with the manufacturer then they can take as long as they wish under the terms of the warranty. If you want it sorted sooner you should exercise your statutory consumer rights under the CRA 2015 (Consumer Rights Act) with the seller as they have a legal duty to provide the remedy within a reasonable time period and/or without causing a significant inconvenience.

This walking malarkey is taking its toll 😂

Yeah I think the CRA route might be the way to go as someone else mentioned.

Amazon are usually pretty good so might check with them as well.
  • Well I've just find out why the repair is taking so long. Just had an email, they've somehow managed to lose it in transit.
They said they're going to send a replacement once it's back in stock.  :|

At least you finally have solid information at last.  I never understand why people buy the things as you can't use them legally in any public space.  I really with the police would clamp down on them.  Confiscate and destroy every one they see being used illegally.

Oddly you can legally hire and use the things in a number of UK Cities but not use your own!
