Unbelievably tight bulb cover in oven!

I'm a fairly young (35!) average strength bloke and I can't get the bulb cover off to replace the bulb in my Neff oven!
It is astonishingly tight, with very little grip and the grill impeding me getting my full hand around it.
Any tips on what I might be able to use as a grip to loosen it?
I can't believe how crazy tight it is
We only got it last year when we had a new kitchen fitted, so I'm going to call JLP up, but I can see how that conversation is going to go...

1) wd40 being very careful not to spray it everywhere.......and clean up afterwards
2) Impact driver.......if you can get one in the available space.
I suspect the thermo cycling of the oven caused the thing to tighten over time.0 -
Is it a glass one, with the thread on the actual glass? Rather than being retained by a screw?
Or perhaps, is there a screw stopping it you've missed?
Is there any crud caught around it? Try putting a bit of oven cleaner around it to dissolve it perhaps...
Or failing that, one of them boa wrench things, with the rubber strap. Probably pick something similar up in woolworths or a diy store perhaps.0 -
I did wonder about WD40, but wasn't sure if it'd eat the enamel on the oven...
It is the one with the thread on the glass cover, it's pretty clean in there (wifey is a domestic goddess)
Those boa things look handy, I migt have to try one out... I did try a rubber glove but it was too slippery, but then I couldn't tighten that. I'll have a squint in Homebase tomorrow.0 -
I would be dubious of using wd40 inside an oven, the smell of the stuff lingers forages0

Have you tried gripping it with a tea towel?
What diameter is it? You might be able to get large meole grips round it (lightly).
You could buy a very large jubilee clip and do that up round it.Happy chappy0 -
In our Neff oven there is no thread on the glass cover, just a couple of ridges making it a snap fit. This is the second Neff we've had and the other was the same. Only changed one bulb and I got it off by gently prising it with a screwdriver. I only found there was no thread after getting it loose and finding it turned easily without coming undone.0

I has thw same problem, I shifted mine with a chain wrench designed for car oil filters.

I had trouble with a Neff oven (B1322) . I called them up & if I recall they said tap it anti-clockwise gently with a hammre and a piece of wood. Did come off then.Nice to save.0

Update
Got it off, I bought of of those Boa things like Hitch suggested, it still didn't come off easy though, I nearly snapped my spine getting in past the door.
It's stupidly positioned if you ask me, in just the right place where you can get hardly any purchase on it.
However, all's well that ends well, I did the other oven while I was at it.

I followed The_Biff's recommendation and worked a treat. Low tech, no special wrenches or smelly chemicals:
- first make the job easy for yourself and remove the oven door (to The Governer)
- get a bit of wood and a hammer.
- feel the glass lamp surround, it has big notches/grips to allow for hand grips
- hold a bit wood against the notch/grip and tap sharply with a hammer
- do this both ways clockwise/anti-clockwise
- then try with your hand
