Are you sure your Reward option is still active? Did you meet the other requirements?
I am not sure the reward option is still alive. How do I check this? I certainly met the other requirements by paying in 1500GBP and staying in credit.

Look on the Rewards tracker online or click on add reward extras and see if it gives you the option of renewing. You need to renew your reward extras offer each year.

Oh dear. That must be it! I opened the account in April 2021 and haven't realized I need to renew it. I am surprised the lady at our local branch didn't seem to know this...

When the MSE Forum is more helpful than a bank's customer-facing personnel.

    Situation normal, I suppose.........

I had this issue.  realised after they had failed to pay the monthly £5 for 13 months.  It’s an account I don’t actually use or check.

When I called, they said I had to opt for my reward each year and hadn’t done so.  I asked where that info was and if they emailed me to tell me to do it and they said that they tell you directly into the account messaging that you have to login to see.

Anyway, the upshot was I made a bit of a fuss and they backdated it so I had £65 added and I also opened a complaint about the fact the communication is not good enough and purely receiving info via the account itself and no email isn’t sufficient for someone to get the message.

I think with Club Lloyds which also give a reward, they email to ask you to choose for the year ahead.

If you call customer services and ensure the long hold and then query why you haven’t had it and how they communicate that you need to choose the reward yearly and complain, you should get your cash.

Of course, now I’m looking to switch out.  I can get a better return on my £5k than £60 yearly reward.

There has never been a reason for keeping £5k in Halifax in order to get the monthly reward.

No, you’re right.  I think I had it there to avoid the £3 fee.

The payment of £1500 into the account each month is required the avoid the £3 fee.
The £5000 balance or £500 debit card spend is only for the rewards.

Any updates on recommended savings accounts for the £500 monthly debit card payments?

There are other threads that cover it but there is information on accounts that work in this very thread.
