He/she who procrastinates is lost. I got a renewal notice last week that stated in bold letters that the offer price would only be guaranteed until midnight on the day that the offer was made.liz503 said:Hi, I know I've posted before about this but opened my scottish power account and before I've even decided what I'm doing from 1st Sept (coming of 2 Yr fix) it's went up again. In last cpl weeks (1 yr flexi price tariff on offer)it's went from £330,£390 and today's it's sitting at £470 I actually nearly fell of my chair in work. I and everyone else in the same position don't know how I'm.suppose to pay for this. For the year £5642.17
You are not alone. The people that got ‘hurt’ the most in the recession of the 1970s (inflation at 15%) were middle earners as they got no State financial support. I fear that the same will happen again.2 -
Got a smart meter so should SP not know what I'm using. thanks LizGingerTim said:Yes, the price of fixed tariffs are increasing at an alarming rate.
Remember that the direct debit total is only an estimate, you need to take your actual usage in kwh and the unit rates on the tariff to work out what you will actually oay over the year.0 -
So regarding last post, should SP not know what I'm using if I've got a smart meter for readings? Thanks0

They will not necessarily use the real consumption for the quote, sometimes they just use an average, or whatever they feel like.
If you decided the last offer was not worth a fix 2 weeks ago, what has changed for you now that you are concerned that they have further increased it?
Last offer was not great with 17p for gas and almost 52p electricity, so this one will be even worse.
Why did you not just fix the rate and use the 14 day cool off, you would have still until tomorrow to decide, but the offer was much better than today.0 -
You should check in your online account that they are using actual readings as opposed to estimates - look for an 'A' on your bill next to the readings.1

Do your bills show meter readings annotated with the word smart or ‘S’? Having a smart meter doesn’t always mean that the readings are getting through to the supplier.liz503 said:

We'd need more data, usage and the tariff rates you've been offered to offer personalised advice.
As a general rule, the prices are shocking to everyone and much more than most expect. Coming off a 2 year fix you are going to notice the massive increase more than others who's bills have been steadily rising for the last year.
At this point a lot of fixes aren't really worth it. The latest price cap predictions have really increased and that's passed onto fixes that are available. We'd need more data to give you more advice though.0 -
Yes I know never made decisions earlier last DD Is 21st of this Month, don't know what I was thinking abt never knew abt cooling of period. Yes my bill shows S for readings. Thanks0
