EDF Energy: Fix Total Service Jul24v6 two-year fix

The only fix I have available is called "Fix Total Service Long-Term" and its 16.810p a unit!!!  How are people getting the July 24 fix?

First what you are offered is a bit random. It depends on what tariff you are currently on, fix or SVT and/or when you current tariff ends. So it will be different for everybody.

Regarding the July 24 fix, I think you were late to the party, it seems EDF has withdrawn the offered fixes and now is offering new more expensive ones.

I have advised over the last weeks to get onto a tariff if it looks ok, and use the cool off period to do more investigations.

What has puzzled me recently is the choice of tariffs on offer. Consistently over the past few weeks I have been offered three 2 year fixes. One at £201 and two at £250.  No difference other than the unit rates. Why anyone would choose the higher one beats me.

I tried for an earlier code SVTJUNE22OFFER ,even tho I hadn't been sent it direct. About 4 weeks ago, the CS agent said that I would get the £130 discount but its never appeared on my account so yesterday I tried again via chat . The person I was on with ,went away for advice and now has referred it to a "special department that deals with codes"! Not holding out much hope !!

We went for the EDF 2 year fix for gas a few months ago. We pay 11.19 plus 27p approx standing charge.

Just looked and the cost they are offering for gas in my region is 127% increase over the current SVR that I'm on.  I'm thinking that sticking to the SVR at the moment is the best bet.  Yep it is a gamble but who can tell what will happen.  At least I've got an amazing long term fix with BG for my electricity.

When they were offering me a similar choice, the one with more expensive unit rates had an exit fee of only £100 per fuel, as opposed to £150. I didn't think that made it worthwhile, but perhaps it would be for lower users.

Ah, perhaps that is it, thanks. Must confess I didn't look too closely at the higher priced one so could easily have missed that.

Now I've swapped to a fix, all the options have disappeared for me, so I can't look back at them.

Wed morning I decided to take the gas only fix of 12.944 and 27.22 SC with the £150 discount offer.   Then entered my readings as usual for the 27th.  The bill totals calculated immediately and the next day the bill was ready as usual on my whole month DD.

 

 To my surprise I not only had the £150 discount added to the account  this morning but as £157.50 which is plus £7.50 Vat.

This was a lot quicker than I expected

Hi casjen, i signed up for this one the other day and wondered why it was £157.50 🙄 the vat explains it thanks - just hoping I’ve done the right thing now 🙏
