OK, so let's say that you use another "summer" quarter between now and November. That's a total of roughly 18,500kWh/yr.Imperial1847 said:From the two bills I have (bare in mind this was with the old boiler):
Nov - Jan - 554 = 6169kwh
Jan - Mar - 652 = 7316kwh
Apr - Jul - 652 = 226 = 2536kwh.At current prices, that would cost £1500/yr, £125/month (with the potential to almost double with the price increase from October). They'll also expect you to recover your £495 arrears over the next six months, to that's an extra £85/month - which gets us to £210/month.Have you got a dual-fuel account? Hi,you're nearly £500 in debit, so they have to claw that back, then cover you future usage, then build in the forthcoming increase in rates, going to be a big jump.2

Your electricity is also well above average, the £379 looks even more likely to be bang in the ball park now.2

Nov - Jul - 5079OK, if we say 6500kWh/yr for electricity that's another £2000/yr, £165/month. That makes:- Gas - £125/month
- Electricity - £165/month
- Arrears - £85/month (for six months)
From October the SVT will increase and I'd guess your gas bill will increase by £1200/yr, £100/month, and your electricity by £1000/yr, £85/month. Even with the arrears paid off you'll then be looking at £475/month.N. Hampshire, he/him. Octopus Intelligent Go elec & Tracker gas / Vodafone BB / iD mobile. Whilst the higher unit costs cannot be avoided, it might be worth trying to reduce your usage as both your gas and electricity usage are significantly above average. Is your home poorly insulated, lots of occupants?Imperial1847 said:

Completely agree. I get to £371 with repaying the debt over 6 months, going up to almost £490 from October, not taking repayments into account, but also no savings.The_Fat_Controller said:Your electricity is also well above average, the £379 looks even more likely to be bang in the ball park now.
@Imperial1847 what do you expect to save due to your new boiler? Even saving 6500KWh, more than a third you will still need to pay over £400 monthly direct debit, and that is not including the remaining months of £82.50 debt repayment.
You can switch to EDF "Whole amount monthly direct debit" (variable direct debit), but his will require you to pay of the whole debt and next months usage immediately.
Also you will be looking at huge bills in winter. You will need to budget for this.1 -
To be honest I'm going to struggle to budget for those sort of amounts, I'll be able to pay them but I'll be virtually working just to pay bills and nothing else, what a sorry state of affairs.pochase said:

Their are only 3 of us in the property, we have good loft insulation and the cavity wall insulation has been redone in the last few weeks.MattMattMattUK said:
