My daughter (30 yrs) is an only child and her father died in 2007 when she was 15. He had no other children. We were divorced when he died. Her paternal G'pa (93 yrs and a widower) has telephoned her and said words to the effect that if she doesn't keep in better contact with the family, he will not include her in his will…

I may be wrong, but something in the back of my memory tells me that Spousal Relief for IHT might be challenged by HMRC when an elderly person marries someone more than 25 years junior. Particularly a second marriage. Someone better acquainted can put me right, please.
