Hotel taken money for package holiday

Good evening
I am looking for some advice please
2 months ago me and a group of friends travel to the USA for 5 days booking with virgin holidays
Upon arrival at the hotel we were asked to present a form of payment for a security deposit in which I used my debit card(first mistake).
Upon departure I was email an invoice to state there was nothing to pay which I already knew.
Now 2 months later my card has been charged over £500! I spent a hefty amount on phone bills calling the hotel chain inwhich they emailed me a new invoice which I had never seen before billing me for the room. Me being the only one of a group of 7.
I have spoken to my bank who said they cannot do anything as this was paid with a debit card. Virgin holidays do not have a customer support line unless you are making a new booking.
Is anyone able to kindly share any advice?
Many thanks
Jack

Your bank are wrong. Present them with the email confirming that you had nothing to pay on departure and tell them that the charge now is unauthorised (possibly fraudulent).

I am sure just a misunderstanding. You need to contact Virgin Atlantic Holidays (their new name). An old brochure I have shows these contacts.Try 0344 557 8830 option 2 or email feedback.backhome@virginholidays.com
Their address is: Customer Services, The VHQ, Fleming Way, Crawley, West Sussex. RH10 9DF.0 -
Thanks for the replies
I'm not sure why the blame would lay with virgin on this. I have emailed them as their customer telephone lines point to an email address and I can't actually speak to anyone.
The hotel invoiced me 0 to pay upon delarture and never mentioned any payment whatsoever.
Like previously mentioned I was the only one of a group of 7 to be billed.
I will try my bank again and see what they say.0 -

Your name is actually the name of the hotel chain we stayed at 😅0 -
Could it be that Virgin have not paid for the room?0

MetalJack21, your contract was with Virgin and it's them you really need to be dealing with. I'm assuming no changes were made to the room booking once you arrived at the hotel.
