How to stop Royal Mail Junk Mail

IvanOpinion said:. It is not personal and making it personal is only hurting yourself (as your post shows). There are important battles that you will have to deal with in your life, this is not one of them, rise above it and instead take the attitude of 'I will show them who is in charge' as you dump the junk in the bin - it can be quite therapeutic.Actually it's pretty personal. I'm a person, I have personally asked them and instructed them in multiple way on multiple different occasions not to put non addressed marketing material through my personal letterbox into my personal home. Since I have personally gone to great efforts and personally phoned them and complained about them ignoring my wishes numerous times and they still ignore me, I take that personally.Yes, I do come across other battles in my life and you know how I deal with them? I use my personal power, my self esteem and my ability to not give up and not take any crap off anyone. I have been told by many people that I am one of the most resourceful, determined and capable people they know. The reason is, I do not let people treat me badly and I move mountains to correct injustices. I always find a way, that is just who I am. So when Royal mail ignores my repeated requests, instructions and complaints, I do not just roll over and show them my belly.I look for ways to rectify the situation. That's why I'm here, to find an effective way forwards (not to listen to people telling me to submit) .Anyway, good point. Yes I will take charge and will return it to them. I will take it with me when I go out and put it in the nearest post box. My bike is next to my door so my basket is the easiest for me and let's see how they like junk being put in for them to deal with.0

But they wo't know it is from you so will achieve nothing.5

I would advise hitting them on social media.
I know its frustrating but RMs prep frames are clunky and poorly set up for the likes of opt outs.
TBH they dont really care.
The opt out/D2D system is ancient and with RMs current staffing situation (normal summer recruitment freeze) and push to cut costs.dont help
The days of a regular postie completing a duty from prep to delivery are long gone.
Coupled with the slash in manager numbers. Things are unlikely to improve.
Its a simple fix but one that requires monitoring/focus amongst a hundred other simple tasks needing the same2 -

It is great that you have the time to spend on this all power to you. I have far too many other things to do so would not have the time. I think rather than placing it in the bin, getting your bike out, riding it to the nearest post box, to place the junk in it, would be a very efficient use of your time and good release of energy - but, in the rules of fairness, remember to sort out those items delivered by your postman versus those delivered by letter box stuffers.Past caring about first world problems.3 -
As a former postie it is not difficult to not deliver 'door to door' items if an address has formally requested it. It is sheer incompetence by the postie / delivery office.
It's not a big deal in the overall scheme of things but why should the OP put up with it.1 -

I am a current postie. I find the main reasons why people still receive the door-to-door items when they say they have opted out are:
1. They have a sign on their door, but haven't actually opted out.
2. They are registered with the Mailing Preference Service and assume it covers door-to-door items.
3. They had opted out but have failed to realise that it needs to be renewed every 2 years.
4. They haven't opted out but they have moaned at the postie, who isn't in a position to check anything and can be at the front end of every complaint despite not being in a position to check anything.
Easy to throw around accusations of "laziness" and "poor management" (though I agree with that one) without knowing the circumstances in the office. In my office all opt outs are marked on the frame with a blue sticker, and a list of the door-to-doors is given out every week and that shows which addresses have opted out.
If the complaints are valid then there is no excuse for RM still delivering them.3 -

They have opted out via RM website, filled out all the forms, phone to complain after it didn't seem to work, got complaints put through to the sorting office and yet they still don't seem to be able to respect people's choices. You don't seem to acknowledge number 5 so I'd assume you know how to do your job and/or your sorting office is well managed, but obviously that's not always the case.0
