Yes I believe it is functional. So based on that suggestion, I’ll forget the landing as go for a 3.3kw for the living room. But the one in the landing now is an electrical wall heater that is connected via an E7 meter. Methinks I prob will have to get that heater disconnected as it’ll be pointless running off peak at night as it’s not storing any heat?
Depending on exactly how it's wired, your electrician (not your handyman) might be able to move the circuit for the landing heater from the E7 board to the 24h one. You'll then be able to switch that heater on and off as you wish.

Ok that’s a good idea I’ll ask the electrician if he can do that. But me using that panel heater in the day at any point is just money down the drain (so I’ve read many times in this forum). That’s the only reason I think isn’t not just worth replacing it with a small storage heater?

The heat from the downstairs storage heater will rise and heat the landing above. This will be using the E7 cheaper electricity.

Hopefully this will be warm enough for a "corridor" area which you only pass through, not sit in for hours. If it does get chilly, use the panel heater sparingly during the day, on a low heat setting.

Close doors between rooms, so the living room stays warmer longer.

I think this seems like the general consensus. I will prob do this then.

I’ve thought about just getting the one Quantum Dimplex HHR for the living room. Still trying to figure out the size though…the living room is 4m x 4.2m. Which shall I go for?

Sorry if I've missed this but what, if any, heating is there in the bedrooms?

If they don't have any, why not get the 2 panel heaters moved to the bedrooms for occasional use when very cold.

I do actually have 2 very basic panel heaters in the bedrooms. Where would that leave me with the corridor panel heater I’ve got at the moment?
  • Hi,
any chance of pictures of what you have and where situated, you keep adding wee bits, wall mounted / panel heater/ storage heater / new this and old that? .

    Hi,

Sorry! Let me give you the whole current breakdown layout of the property, which is a first floor, 2 bed maisonette:

-entrance to the property has a single storage heater adjacent to the stairs
-upstairs landing has an electric panel heater (through an E7 circuit)
-living room has an electric panel heater (through an E7 circuit)
-each of the 2 bedrooms have a single electric panel heater (plugged through wall socket)

What I propose to do is:
-swap living room electric panel heater to storage heater (preferably HHR)
-swap the hallway electric heater with a smaller storage heater OR just get it re-wired with a 24hr supply.

    Hope this makes more sense.
  • Hi,
ok, so landing panel heater and living room panel heater are on E7, coming live about 11pm, which is fine if you sit up until 7 in the morning, but they don't store heat.
The hall storage heater should suffice, keep it on E7 circuit, if you get it on 24hr supply then you are on the dearer day rate.
As I said before, update a storage heater for living room, use the storage heater at stairs, and wall/panel heaters if needed.
