Refund of restaurant deposit - taking longer and I need refund to book elsewhere

How many places actually ask for a deposit for a booking? I have only been asked to pay a deposit twice in my entire life for a large table booking. I booked several tables between 12-18 over the last few months for various family and friend occasions and none of the place, either expensive or cheap, asked for a deposit.0

I feel annoyed she didn't let on it would take 14 days for it to be returned and they took the deposit knowing they hadn't the staff at the time.If you paid by credit card then just pay another deposit for somewhere else by credit card also and by the time the statement comes it will all even out so you don't even have to use any of your own money.0

Why go to all the hassle of writing and threatening court when it is far easier to raise a chargeback through the bank? Seems like making a mountain out of a molehill to me.2

Yes you do. However, unless there is a practical and cost effective way of enforcing those "rights" they are only of limited value.serendipity109 said:Friendly lot aren't you?
My issue is the way the restaurant are dealing and also minimising that it would take this long, they had misled me into thinking it'd be 3 days now it's actually 14 they weren't upfront and the fact they are taking so long, I feel sure I have rights with this one.
It's not about asking for more money from friends which it appears to have been turn into....
I'm sorry, but beyond asking nicely there is no way of forcing this to happen quickly. Pushing too hard can sometimes be counterproductive. If they decide to be deliberately awkward there is little you can do about it. Yes, assuming they don't go bust in the meantime you will eventually get your money back. It is not "right" but it is how it is.2 -
What third party platform was it? Do you even have any sort of a contract with the restaurant? Did they even get your money?0

It was one they use to manage all their bookings, parties over 10 needed to pay, and yes of course they got my money, hence the fussAth_Wat said:What third party platform was it? Do you even have any sort of a contract with the restaurant? Did they even get your money?0 -
Why "of course"? Some third parties retain the money and don't pass it to the end supplier until much later.serendipity109 said:

If you would name the platform it would be easy to find out.
(I maybe should clarify that "they" in my post above refers to the restaurant.)
