The Green Energy UK fixed tariff was withdrawn over a month ago, and already 2 weeks before that there were dozens of posts how surprising it was that they were still offering a deal below the cap rate that was predicted at that time.

That was when the cap rates were still calculated as being around 44p/14p

I suspect they might go bust at some stage, they be making huge losses going forward.

Their prices were too good to be true for such a small outfit.

Not necessarily in the next 12 months if they hedged.

Their accounts as at April 2021 show a profit after tax of £400.6k up from £275k the previous year.
  • They seem to be a fairly well run company according to their last annual report and financial statements, plus they have been around for 20+ years so they must know what they are doing.

Glad I fixed.  Got a saving based on next cap. Probably going to be even more from January.
Paid off the last of my unsecured debts in 2016. Then saved up and bought a property. Current aim is to pay off my mortgage as early as possible. Currently over paying every month. Mortgage due to be paid off in 2036 hoping to get it paid off much earlier. Set up my own bespoke spreadsheet to manage my money.
  • I didn't fix and it worked out not too bad staying on the standard EDF tariff but now EDF have a fix deal called essentials fix sept 30th 26 and I’m wondering should i go for it but the exit fees are insane £200 each 🫨

I just jumped ship from EDF to So Energy’s So Juniper One Year tariff. EDF’s fixes didn’t do anything for me, and I should be saving money as well as be immune from any price rises next year.

I saw them on a uswitch but I would be worried about them going bust

It’s no issue, in that event you just get transferred to another supplier.

So Energy should be a fairly safe bet as they have some robust backing:

....Irish state-owned electricity company ESB has acquired a 75% stake in the energy supplier So Energy (Aug 21)
