Hi all
Does anyone know if there is an email address or an online form for checking the status of a probate application please?
Thanks,
Gary

    There's also a webchat facility.

How long have you been waiting?

    Thanks for that.
How long depends on where I count from!
28th March I paid for the application on the phone - 14 weeks.
8th April the forms arrived (signed for).
6th May I got formal notification the forms had arrived together with "it'll be up to 8 weeks".
    Too long, is the answer!

From the point at which I had the acknowledgement email saying they’d received the application (almost 2 weeks earlier) to the email approving the probate was about 6 weeks. Id give it a couple more weeks before trying to chase it up. You'll just spend/waste hours trying to get through just to be told that its being processed. Save yourself the stress.
are you waiting for probate for a specific reason? I’ve come to realise that if I assume everyone is working at a less-than-snail’s pace with regards to sorting out a bereaved person’s estate, I wont be disappointed!

Thanks msb, it's good to hear a 'real life' experience rather than official estimates!
Specific reason? Yes, we need to go ten rounds with a bank and they're sticking their fingers in their ears and humming until we get probate!

Has anyone had a reply to an email asking for an update on their application?
The whole process is so stressful and there seems to be no way of finding out what’s going on.
I tried the chat function earlier In the process and didn’t find that very helpful either.

    I tried the email today.
I'll give them a couple of days before I try phoning.

I called a few weeks back; took 40 minutes to get through. Was told they’d email HMRC to chase the form they were waiting for. Asked if this meant another 8 weeks wait I was told no, normally a few days more.
This was about 3 weeks ago.
I now feel tempted to email every day until I get an answer, but don’t want to annoy them into deliberately making me wait longer!

You'd like to think they're not that spiteful!
