You mean not everyone in Scotland uses them for their porridge? You have just shattered me. ;)
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

Not wrong - I've never heard of it and that's all I said. I have heard however of a spirtle/spurtle!

I use a spirtle - handmade by a man in Perthshire - for my porridge.

 Instead of the whisky, why not take down some whisky fudge? Also, you could maybe get some Scottish Postcards and possibly, if you have time, write out some Burns poetry or find a little book with some. If they're not too easily offended, you get these wee books from Bargain Books or similar shops. I think they only cost a few pounds. There's "haud yir weesht" and something about things your granny used to say which you didn't understand at the time but now make some sense when you look back now.

And don't forget the stick to your teeth Highland Toffee or Irn-Bru bar.

Hope this helps. Sounds like it's gonna be a brilliant present. You'll have to let us know if they like it.

Do not forget little sprigs of white heather.

I am originally from Scotland and my English relatives get very excited when I give them some white heather - especially if it is in a little pot so it can grow!
