What about a theevil (might be wrong spelling). I was given one before I left. I'm using it now to stir my porridge. Don't think they are that dear & it's definatly a scottish thing. Mine has a little tartan ribbon around the top.Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.

Unless very badly spelt I can't help but think it's a tourist item as I've never heard of it.

I have a traditional Scottish oatmeal/porridge "stirrer" but it is known as a spirtle. When it can stand up on its own in the pot, the porridge is ready

Now you have forced me into getting the Concise Scots Dictionary out

theevil, thivel, theedle, theel:
a short tapering stick used to stir food as it cooks, a spurtle (sp from dictionary)
spurtle, spirtle. spurkle:
1. a long handled, flat bladed implement for turning oatcakes, scones etc
2. a short round stick for stirring porridge, soup etc
3. a sword
Now I am sure you all wanted/needed to know that on a warm Saturday morning :rotfl:0 -

Wrong
and it's spelt right too. :T Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.
