There seems to be a difference between what two Cynergy CSA have told me about not being able to deposit after the initial 14 Day opening window and what forumites above are saying.

If you look at janusdesign's post earlier where they quoted the answer from Cynergy's FAQ, it appears you should be able to make deposits after the 14 Day opening window. But that is not what Cynergy Customer Service have told me twice today! I'm still lost on this one!
Personally, I'd have a look at the t's&c's for the account. I suspect the CSA's are wrong...

Or you could do as suggested up thread - send a small deposit to the account. It'll either get credited, or wing it's way back to you if it's not allowed.
I've sent a secure message to Cynergy to try to get a definitive answer .... will post result when received.
I don't recall ever seeing a notice account which has only an initial funding window.
It surprised (and annoyed!) me too! Let's hope that there are two Cynergy CSA's that need retraining ...... if not my 95 Day Closure notice goes in asap! If I get a reply from my secure message I'll update the thread.

I always give notice straight away once I've funded a notice account. That way, should I need the money I can get it back ASAP.
And if I don' t need it, all the accounts I've used allow the withdrawal to be cancelled at a later date.

I frequently do that too ... in fact, I had recently cancelled an approaching closure notice, intending to start a new closure notice .... but that was what prompted me to make the query about further deposits. I may or may not regret cancelling that closure notice depending on the outcome! I guess it doesn't stop me from adding a new closure notice, and if the answer is that I can't add any more to the account, it's no big deal to wait 95days (ish) for the £500 initial deposit.
  • I've got the 120 day notice account with Dudley BS. I have the (account) min amount in it. I tried to "give notice" but it keeps telling me I cannot do that as it would reduce my balance to below the "min allowed for the account" - doesn't seem to be a button for "notice to close" - anyone know anything I can do please? Cheers.

Dudley Notice is a decent account being close to best buy and also allowing immediate access (with penalty). Why not keep it open with a min amount?
  • Is it NLA? Doesn't seem to be "available" online anymore? I've not had a notice account since the days of passbooks and branches - and even then it was only 14 days - so are you able to give notice and then "not withdraw" - but effectively put in your notice in case market conditions are such that you want that option to withdraw?

The online Dudley notice account is NLA. Once notice given, this and most notice accounts allow cancelling the notice and even if you don't, you can always redeposit.

as @aaj123 said, the online version is currently NLA though their Post/Branch equivalent is still available -  Dudley seemingly have a habit of temporarily removing the online versions of their notice accounts... and conversely, sometimes the online versions are available and the branch versions are pulled...
if you need an online 120 day notice account now, then Oxbury @ 5.53% would currently pay more.

to close the account, you would send them a secure message - unless you wanted to pay the penalty, you wouldn't get the balance returned until the end of the 120-day notice period.

re: earlier discussion on Cynergy 95 Day Notice account deposits.

I had a call back from Cynergy today in answer to my secure message. You CAN add deposits after the 14 day initial funding window on that account, contrary to what the two previous CSAs had told me. Seems some further training is needed  :)

Thanks goes to those forum members who gave me the heads up that the CSAs were in error!
