Problem with Virgin Media

I have been a loyal Virgin Media customer for 20 years and every time my contract finishes I’m able to get a good customer loyalty discount from them that I can afford and is cheaper than the competitors.
Anyway, my 18 months contract with them with broadband and landline is due to end again and my bill has now went up. I phoned them to see about getting another good customer loyalty discount by renewing my contract again like I always do but this time they are unable to give me a good deal on loyalty discounts. This has resulted in me terminating my contract and I will be disconnected next month which I am unhappy about.
I am on M200 Fibre broadband and I was paying £18 a month but now it has went up to £32 a month. I tried phoning them again to see if they will reconsider giving me a good discount but they lowest they can go is £25. I don’t know what to do.

Well you're not entitled to any discount so if that's all they're going to give you, its a case of take it or leave it.And vote with your feet, so it will involve a BT line being installed to get internet from somebody else.0

They sometimes offers deals late in the day or after they had received notification of you joining another provider, so not all lost yet....but I would seriously start looking for another service provider, in case.0

You've cancelled your contract and so you're going to be disconnected. What exactly are you unhappy about?Artyboy1973 said:This has resulted in me terminating my contract and I will be disconnected next month which I am unhappy about.

I will try phoning them just before they close and see if they can give me a proper customer loyalty discount. I just don’t understand why this is the first time in 20 years they have been unable to give me a customer loyalty discount that I feel I can afford.Alirara said:They sometimes offers deals late in the day or after they had received notification of you joining another provider, so not all lost yet....but I would seriously start looking for another service provider, in case.0 -
Not sure where you have been in the last 12 months or so but the cost of just about everything is increasing quite rapidlyArtyboy1973 said:

Exactly. The OP should have accepted that offer.dil1976 said:

So really I should of taken the offer of £25 a month for my broadband even though I’ve been paying under £20 for customer loyalty discount in the past and the reason Virgin Media can only go as low as £25 is because of the price increase on everything?webjaved said:

Yes, you should have taken the £25 offer. For 200Mbps broadband that is a good deal in today's climate. What you paid in the past is irrelevant, the current state of the market is what matters, not what happened in previous years.Artyboy1973 said:

A deal of under £20 is clearly not possible for them regardless of whether you've been with them for 2 months or 20 years. You've just been on a sort of gravy train with your retentions with lucky choices at the next junction, and now its the end of the line. There is no entitlement to a discount in any way, shape or form, so the ball is in Virgin's court as to whether you get one or not. The fact you've been offered £25 is a semi-decent deal in itself, which is actually cheaper than a lot of landline based new customer deals, so if it was me I'd have not only bitten their hand off but half the arm as well.1 -
I got an text from Virgin Media this morning with a deal for 100mb broadband for £22. I phoned the number and managed to keep my 200mb fibre broadband and land line for £21 a month on a new 18 month contract.
I’m happy with that as I would of had to go through a credit check which I always fail if I went with another broadband provider. I don’t understand why I fail the credit checks as I’ve never been in debt and I have always been good with money. Anyway, I’m glad I’m still with Virgin Media.
