Three 5g broadband help

Options
Moving property next week and Now can not supply to our new property. As we are with Three and they have a 5g mast at the end of the street, they have confirmed we will be within signal we are looking at signing. Done a speed check on my 4g phone and hovering around 100Mb. If we signed for 5g modem and had to move to an are where no 5g signal told we would then pick up the best 4g plus or 4g, can anyone confirm this? Also our current Now modem sends a very poor signal around the flat, is the Three router any better. Thanks for any input.

Yes you would get the fastest possible speed depending on signal. One option you might consider is using "Smarty" which uses the Three network. But Smarty is 30 day rolling contracts. Which gives you the same speed as Three at your current street and the option of changing provider if the signal isn't as good when you move.

Thanks all for the comments. Three are doing the modem and unlimited data for £20 a month reduced to £10 for first 6 months so I think that's the deal. Only downside is the 24 month contract but think the free modem negates the length of contract. Thanks Spies for confirming it would revert back to 4g if no 5g available.
  • I’m on the same deal since a few months with average download speeds of 300mbps, very happy with Three 5G broadband!

Do you only get a reliable signal and good speeds on 5G if you put the router near a window or use an external antenna?

It depends where you live, where the base station is situated and the layout of your house, flat or apartment. In the end all you can do is try it out.

Wireless propagation isn't an exact science and even moving stuff a couple of feet can improve or degrade performance .

5g is more susceptible to variations in performance as the frequencies used are more affected by  range, building types and materials, walls and other stuff
Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers
  • A bit of a swerve, but has MSE stopped recommending Three's 5G Home BB? It doesn't show on the BB Deals checker. I am about 500Mts from a 5G mast, and Three's  BB has shown up on a search until just recently. Is anyone in the know?
  • Just to update after 15 months of use.... been very impressed so far, get over 400Mbps most days and times and mainly stable connection. Took on several holidays and again worked reasonable even on caravan sites. Only had one outage which lasted 4 days, problem with mast, more of a pain as mobiles are three also. Overall would recommend due to price and portability.
