Thank you for that.  I have read it and despite trying several chargers he/she had a problem,  I spoke to Motorola yesterday.  She told me that I need Turbo power C type and under 1800 ? watt  She very much stressed the C type.  As I have said the 2 previous Motorola phone and chargers.  What I have will fit either but no way will it fit my current phone.
Obviously the person on the forum who directed to had a problem with his phone charger too. I am using my little laptop gift from my nephew.  I am 80 so it is not easy for me to find a solution to problems and I do get huge support from these forums.
So thanks to you again.  Sie

JB Thank you again.  I realise now that it was you who had the problem with your new phone. The chargers I have for the old Motorolo simply will not fit but they do work and charge the old phones including an old Nokia phone.  Of course there is no sim card etc in them.  If I can't sort this out and I have not ordered anything as yet but I might just buy a new phone,  I have had this one for about 3 years I think it does everything I need. I buy the handset and then take SIM only deal  Thanks again.  I have hope that the hotel would post the charger to me. I spoke to the Reception twice yesterday and he had yet to talk to housekeeping.  I told him the room no and that the charger was actually plugged is so maybe not that easy to be aware of.

My daughter has ordered me a charger from Amazon.  Says that they are all what I need now.  She will know.  So I can wait on its arrival. Sure it will be fine.  Thanks again Sue

That's the way 🤞🤞  - remember this is MSE, no need for a new phone!!!
When the new charger arrives and *if* it works OK, maybe best to order another as a spare just in case!  (Unless the hotel plays ball, which is sounding unlikely!)

Thanks JB.  It is a  good suggestion to purchase a second charger.  Sue

The charger arrived and it fits.  My daughter said it is important to order C type. I have ordered a second one just to be on the safe side.  Thanks again Sue

Looks like you are having the same problem as I had a while back which made me realise that all USB-C chargers are not the same.
If it's come from Amazon - send it back for a refund and specify one that *guarantees* that it will work on your model of phone.
    Alternatively, try 7dayshop.com perhaps

EDIT - 7 day shop don't seem to have any and nor do amazon!
This looks promising https://www.mobilefun.co.uk/motorola/moto-g8-plus/cables but maybe check to see that it will charge your phone!

    Good luck!
