The appeal letter is in the post with a certificate of postage.

Coupon-mad - are still after photos of the Rockpool carpark? I went back down and got some of the signs and the machines, I can upload here if you want.

    Yes please! Thank you.

I could do with them to illustrate a complaint about this scam.

Did you try getting a ticket from the machine?

If yes, did it take the full VRM or restrict the data entry?

Interesting. Was there only one machine?

That being the key point, and indeed I note if you didn't try getting a ticket you're ****** :(

BBC WatchDog “if you are struggling with an unfair parking charge do get in touch”

Please email your PCN story to watchdog@bbc.co.uk they want to hear about it.
Please then tell us here that you have done so.

That depends on if the poster actually parked in that car park when taking the photos. ;)

No, I avoid parking in there now - there's usually spaces on the side of the road nearby that you can just park up on for free.

I'm pretty sure that in the past, when I've bought tickets, the machine has taken the full VRM, but I could be wrong.

Interesting. Was there only one machine?

    Yeah, only the one machine.

I actually ended up in Sennen car park, the one at the bottom of the hill, on the weekend, which is also run by Armtrac, and had loads of issues with their ticket machines not accepting my card or coins properly... It's an absolute joke, and I'm not surprised so many people get caught out by it.

This post is timed just right for me.  My partner and I parked in this car park for an hour on Monday 13th June, we were tight for time but needed a pit stop therefore didn't use the ParkingApp information as it was quicker to pay £1 for the hour.  I entered the full reg and paid the £1 (I keep tickets for ages but he cleans his car out on return from holiday with all the sand so we definitely don't have a ticket to prove this but definitely did pay!)  I must admit in our rush I didn't check the reg was printed correctly - will always do that in future although reading the above I doubt paying another £1 would have saved us!

On 27th June he had a Armtrac Penalty notice dated 22nd June with the wording the same as the first post.  We thought I may have mis-entered his reg or a button stuck and decided to appeal this.  Neither have broadband, only mobile at home and he isn't internet savvy - no email address so I said I would sort...two jobs and very busy week and not wanting to send before I had researched the right wording...another letter saying the 14 days has passed and full £100 arrived today.  I can complete the online appeal form (which counting the days I think I only have a couple to go within the 21 day appeal time stated).

The penalty notice states the ANPR times as 13:00:36 arrival and 14:00:23 departure so you could say we were seconds under the 1 hour rule but then Rockpool cafe and things I have managed to google say there is a 15 min grace period (10 to park and 5 mins to leave?) so we are definitely under the time limit - it must be the machine/car reg error.  Reason stated is "parked with no valid parking session".

The above info is really helpful and the photos are brilliant - this is definitely the car park (and the Rockpool cafe have made clear they cannot help though is impacting on their business).  Can I ask as well as appealing and asking for the machine to be checked against our car reg, which is the best photo (assuming I can upload a photo) of the ones above to use - the machine?
I can see there is a Newbie post to see the wording.  As mentioned there is no email just a website address to use to appeal, can I appeal using my partners name as per the letter and my email address or is that giving them my details too?  In theory I am the person responsible as I bought the ticket and entered the details!

Any help you can give is very much appreciated as I need to act quickly but correctly on this one - £100 is a lot of money but I would have found and paid it if this was my genuine error, I am so angry that this company might have my hard earned cash.  My partner is also worried that the letter says "failure to pay the full amount of this notice within 28 days may result in the proceedings of a debt recovery action and/or issuing court proceedings against you.  Addtional costs..".  He is worried bailiffs will turn up on his doorstep - surely even if we lose the appeal it would need to go to court before that happens?
    Thank you.

You are doing the right things. Please reassure him that you can not have bailiffs visiting ( it has to go to court first), and the only debt action will be silly letters that are only fit for lining the budgie's cage.
