What’s with all the vw transporters/caravelle,s..?
Atm we’re holidaying in Cornwall, on the way down we passed, and were passed by, loads of vw transporter type vehicles, most, had side windows, I assume to get round the speed difference with the van type, there’s also lots of them down here, why so many, as opposed to fords, eg?( there are a few but not as many as the vw,s) the missus think they might have been lockdown projects, converting them to campers, maybe it’s the surfers new thing for carrying their boards, is it a new trend, ?, are there many about in your neck of the woods…?

Trendy beach vehicles for active people and families, down near the coast? Seems pretty normal.
A lot of them will be day vans for people to use as a base. Some will be taking a pile of kids to the beach, or be full of bikes or surf boards or whatever.

New trend? People have been using VWs to carry their surf boards since the 1950's.
If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.7 -
The VW Camper scene is alive and well. From the original 60's version to the latest www.volkswagen.co.uk/en/electric-and-hybrid/electric-cars/id-buzz.html. There is even an industry converting old VW campers (particularly the T3) to electric. And all of them in day van format too.Signature on holiday for two weeks1

Very popular family transport round here (Pembrokeshire) even out number Range Rovers on the school run.0

They've always been around in good numbers. Even in a small county, in West Wales that I live in, they have a VW Festival every year. Always popular to go on a staycation in, more & more companies offering the VW vans for rental too.0

Guilty as charged - I did the school run in my VW camper 30 years ago and she was old then. She's bright orange with a pop up roof. I still have her, SORN just now but aiming to convert to electric if I can get a bit of welding done. Then she'll be good for another 40 years!Love living in a village in the country side1

Yes, have you seen the price of the caravelles, eye watering, where I work a lady said she’d seen a 14 plate for 29k, a friend of her husband, who is a motor dealer, told them to snatch their hand off,0

The Jone's have one which they use to go to the beach with and therefore so must I. Got to keep up with the trends couldn't bear being 'seen' as failing to keep up.
