Help to read my electric meter (photograph)

I am not sure how to read my electric meter.
The electric company has this estimate reading -
6292.4  Estimated reading

Here is a photograph of my actual electric meter. There is no decimal point on my meter.
1. Is my meter reading higher than theirs?
Or
2. Is their estimate higher than my reading?

Does the meter number tie up with the one on your bill?

    Welcome to the forum.

Your real usage is much higher than their estimate. 14720 is more than 6292. You have used 8426KWh more than they estimate.

When did you send the last meter reading? When was the last bill that was based on real readings not estimates?

It is normal that the supplier has sometimes a decimal point in their estimates, the meter does not, and you never submit a reading with a decimal point where it has one (for example the gas meter).

Is that definitely your electricity meter? Do you have solar panels? It's just that the meter looks very similar to our solar one not our main electricity one
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.

Quick google says they can be used for solar but are more often used in rented properties such as a house turned into flats where the main supply has been split between several users.

It has a stamp of 2012 on it so would be 1500 -1600 a year, How long have you lived there and your opening read?

Thousands of them fitted on normal domestic properties too, very common type of meter

They don t use the little Ampy meter  the OP has recieved  showing a  decimal point in anything other than a solar panel meter .Only other meter to use decimal points for domestic are the absurdly un-customer friendly Secure Liberty smart meters and they were made for small businesses in India but used as smart meters in the UK

I disagree; my experience is that estimated readings (like the one the OP has received) often include decimal points.
