'I've brought potatoes back upstairs with me' was how I read your last paragraph, grandmanerd...!Today I am grateful for dh going out to see a friend, for dc doing some chemistry, for the neighbours going out for an hour of blissful peace, for emptying the paddling pool and the garden has had a good watering over the last few days of reducing the water in it, for my back being practically better.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!10

Well done @BadBookkeeper!Yesterday I returned some of the sale clothes I bought to JLew. Met OH after he finished work at lunchtime and grabbed some food. Nipped into supermarket and 6 got peppers, mixed salad, and spring onions all YS. I didn’t have kitchen roll to keep the leaves fresh so I cut up an old cotton tea towel to be ‘reusable kitchen roll’. Will see if it does the job. This morning I’ve paid the amount due on the cc for the clothes I’ve kept, added £50 to our monthly expenses to cover my half of our energy increase, and put £70 aside for the first instalment on this bloomin’ hen do. My personal account now has a measly £6.30 in it and my phone contract costs £5.74. So I’ll have 56p to spend on myself in August… ooo might treat myself to a finger of fudge. 🤣Later today we’ll be picking up DS from grandparents, going to auntie’s for a haircut, and then to the football.Grateful this morning to have ‘just’ enough to cover expenses, for a lie-in, tea in bed with OH, and for the relaxing sound of rain outside which is also watering my plants. 🙂

Well done, BadBookkeeper, You must be feeling a great sense of achievement,
Tea towel may well work, Idee. Let me know if it does.
I did Himself's banking yesterday which actually just consists of paying his credit card and moving money around various accounts.
Apart from that I didn't do very much as every time I moved my neck I got a shooting pain. So it's back to the ibuprofen gel and paracetamol. Hopefully that will sort it out today and get me back on track.Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.9 -
Hello Turtles
Today is NSD13, I made my target! Easy peasy when you can't go anywhere... I have Covid again.
I had one spendy day last week then when I ordered in more LFTs, some flannels to soak and hold to my hot head, and some takeaway pizza which I have been subsisting on until I feel fit to do anything more complicated, like toast. Luckily I am stocked up for Strepsils, paracetamol and honey.
As we approach month end I can assess that I overspent slightly on groceries and contingency budgets, but underspent on most other planned budgets, especially transport, thanks to being I'll and working from home.
I've declined 2 day job work travel jollies next month which will keep things a bit tighter and what I saved will go on my transport to the 2 freelance work events I am keeping. I don't expect to make money back on those but hopefully they will build for something in September. I need to do lots of prep for these outings, and I think the best thing I can do is start by convalescing properly. It's not as bad as last time by a long shot, but I do have long term health issues because of it, so going to be sensible all the way.
Lots to look forward to in August!Keep reading books!
July grocery challenge START: £150.

Today I have been to a few SMs to get specific things, also trawled garden centres for a birthday present for a friend, got a nice pot and plant & kept in budget.

Today I am grateful for another successful lot of hair dyeing on dc, for dh going for his initiation for bouldering himself, for playing with my new-to-me barbell, for butterflies, for a good book.

Well done @BadBookkeeper, you've done so well!
Hugs to those with sore necks & covid.
Had a lovely morning yesterday, dropped a birthday present I'd made, at a friend's on my way to town, then went shopping with mum. Looked in s couple of CS & got a few things to put away for sproutmas. Didn't spend a lot in the supermarkets, we put our shopping together in T0sco to get money off. Super tired when I got home, couldn't decide if it was the hear or not eating for a while, but didn't feel 109%. Had a lovely, deep sleep & felt a bit better. Out shopping away, then after tea I started getting dull pains in my stomach. Read my book for a while, then back to bed @9.30.
We all took covid tests this morning before catching the boat to another island to see FIL. Haven't seen him for over a year, do it was good. I still had a sore stomach (still do now). Took his dog for a walk, then I sat crocheting most of the day. Said we could have some books off his shelf, if we fancied any, DS3 had a field day!! He gave me some jigsaws to pass on to my mum too, for when she retires in February. Treated us all to a chippy tea, when we got back to our island. We sat overlooking the beach whilst eating. Washed the dishes on out return, put clothes on the clothes horse, then more crocheting & watched TV.
Grateful for my family, that the rain dried up whilst on the boat, laughter, beautiful sceneryUse it up, wear it out
Make do or do without!
If you see someone without a smile, give them one of yours 😃

Well done BadBookkeeper. Hugs for all the poorlies.
Made progress yesterday but so much more to do. Will just rest a while and work out my plodding agenda.
Thank for this month's thread apple, as usual any shortcomings are my own. Things to smile about - my little robin friend came back yesterday, things fitting where I wanted them to go (used my hoe to measure, not daft enough to drag things across the yard without knowing they will fit). Overall I have made progress in several areas this month. Have more or less cleared mum's bungalow so that it can go on sale, have help and more promised, yard is nearing completion (just need to resist the temptation to plant more but will look at things that can be planted now and left to overwinter), social life is expanding, loving the art therapy and mindfulness is very helpful (need to practice more). Money/ budgeting is not great but still so much uncertainty and have cancelled the recipe box subscription and intend to cancel the veg/ salad box (will haunt the ys shelves), getting better at taking the increase in medication, clear result on the poo testing, made decisions on some things, clothes are looking good (I have a colour co-ordinated wardrobe), lots of things donated and more to be winkled out.8 -
End of another month and another challenge. So;
I did lose some weight, Not as much as I hoped but I was being a bit ambitious, I think. I did healthily and drank virtually no alcohol. (Just one glass of wine when I had lunch with the lovely cousin).
Kept up the skin regime and after two months of that there is a definite improvement.
Walked a lot but had a few wobbles due to the heat wave and a bit of ill health.
Put something in the food box every time we went to Aldi. Sometimes it wasn't much but hopefully it helped someone.
Still haven't applied for the passport
Still haven't bought a new oven. Amazing how you can adapt to not having one.
NSDs weren't great but the budget was more or less OK. Himself's chocolate biscuits were a bit expensive and unplanned but more than balanced out by the lack of alcohol. Not that I've ever paid for his alcohol but the extra expense to me was worth it to stop him drinking.
Massive fail on the decluttering again.
Some good, some not so good.
Thanks for running the challenge, Apple. See you all in August.
Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.10
