To Switch or Not To Switch That Is The Question !?!?!?!
Just wondering what other E-ON Next Customers think about their Fixed V15.  We're on their Flex at the moment and desperately trying to decide if we should go for this Fixed V15. Obviously we'd have to pay 42% more for the energy we use until September 30th. If Ofgems predicted 42% rise is correct then it wouldn't be worth switching right now but if Cornwall Insight are correct with their predicted 51% increase in October I guess we'd be better off in the long term.  Have you Switched to the V15 ??
Thanks

Hi Pinky me and my partner was just discussing this today,
We pay £215 per month with a very little debit, the V15 will cost us and extra £100 a month and we just cant afford it with all other bills also going up.

yes for me next v15 is an extra £98 which would be on top of the £110 I got whacked for earlier this year.

I think I'll wait and see how it pans outs - maybe government will step in?

I also guess it depends on how long that tariff will be available for....

Where do you get all these percentages and costs from? Remember that some of them such as the predicted 51% increase in October are based on averages on averages and NOT a predicted 51% increase in the unit price. They are perfect for headline figures in newspapers to scare people but completely useless for end customers.

42% was the end of May prediction in the Ofgem letter to government with Cornwall insights having the same prediction.
45% was the Cornwall Insights prediction on 1st of June
51% was the Cornwall Insights prediction on 20th of June

As @Astria is saying the 51% is not the increase for the unit price, but unfortunately it is not to scare people. The expected increase for the gas unit rate is a whopping 70%. not just 51%.

How is that possible. Most agree there will be no increase in the standing charges, so you deduct the standing charge from the predicted gas price. If you dive the result by 12000 (Ofgem average gas use) you get the new unit rate of 12.47p. Subtract the old unit rate of 7.3 and you get the increase of 5.17, which is an increase  70.82%.

The above does not take regional difference for standing charges or unit rates into account.

We are on EON Next "Fix 2year v15" since Oct 2021

    Elec 19.82 p/KWh  24.11 p/day

    Gas 3.96 p/KWh  26.12 p/day

    End date 23/10/2023

I guess that's not the tariff being discussed here?

No, what is discussed here is a new tariff starting now. Also it Should be the latest 1 year fix from Eon.

The government has already stepped in - https://www.gov.uk/government/news/energy-bills-support-scheme-explainer
  • I’ve gone for it.

All in all it cost me £95 more than I paid by DD this time last year, but I like the certainty of what I’m paying and this is a monthly fee I can just  about afford. It also takes away the worries of crazy rises come October!  Anyway if something better comes along there are no exit fees either.

I’m currently in credit and if I’m still in credit after this winter, I can ask for money back as I don’t think I’ll use as much gas and energy as last year.
