Order Running shoes got cheap sunglasses bank not willing to help

I decided to have a shot at getting my money back so I’ve paid for a signed for delivery to the shipper’s address but sent just an envelope with a print out of the the photo of the sunglasses, then mocked up the label to make it look like international signed for with the China address and sent a photo to the scammers. Their words were, send us a tracking number and we will refund. We’ll see lol. Not being a frequent user of these tactics I’ve made a couple of mistakes which I’m hoping they won’t notice. I’ll let you know if anything happens. I also emailed the Chinese embassy to let them know and ask for their help in getting my money back. I doubt I’ll get a reply because they’d unlikely to care but nothing ventured nothing gained as they say.2

Update from the scammers, they have said they will refund the credit card I paid with and quoted the last four digits, said it might take a little while but please to be patient. That was followed by this:
“ Dear customer,The refund is processing to your account.
The order No. is: 1XH-aa871-vck1786
The bank card No. is: the correct number with bits starred out
Because each refund needs to be confirmed manually by the bank. Itâs a little bit slow.
Generally, the refund takes 7-15 working days. However, sometimes the refund time will delay up to few working days because the different countries will take different time. The refund had been processed at our country, but it will take a little time to transfer to your bank at your country and then transfer to your account.
Please wait patiently and sorry for the inconvenience!
Thanks for your kind understanding.
Best regards!

It’s one of life’s mysteries how when you pay the money goes instantly but a refund takes so much longer. I’m not holding my breath that anything will ever turn up and if anything does turn up it’s not going to be the full £86 but I think it’s going to help with a chargeback if the bank has something to work with.
Seconds out, round 3 lol.

Update.
Despite my best efforts and several more emails between me and the scammers, their promises of a refund were clearly an exercise in fibbing and procrastination. I waited the allotted 15 days that the bank said I must, in fact it’s been 20 days since I returned, cough, the sunglasses. I didn’t expect a refund so I’m not disappointed lol.
Back to the bank to update their card department. She only required the date of return and the tracking number which I gave her. I was a bit worried that she might check it but so far there’s been no word. I have checked it again with RM and it says delivered but not where and there’s a signature which looks very Chinese strangely enough. There is a line at the bottom saying when it was delivered which is the day after I sent it and that’s the tiny problem they might see if they checked, I’m hoping they don’t.
The lady I spoke to was very helpful, she explained that as I’d waited the 15 days and there was no refund despite the promises they would go ahead and refund me straight away. They will then contact the merchant who get the chance to dispute the claim. She has based it not upon my getting glasses and not trainers but rather on being promised a refund which hasn’t materialised. They have 30 days to object etc. If they don’t then there’s a further 60 day period in which they can still raise a rejection of the claim. She said that experience of similar situations shows that the merchant seldom answers and the refund will stay put in my account. So far so good then. I’m not claiming a victory quite yet but I’m hopeful that I will, only another 28 days till I find out 😉0 -
Well, an update on the update, I’ve just checked my bank account and the Chinese scammers have refunded me in full! I’m totally stunned. I expect the bank will want their money back. Perseverance pays off.3

Well done with the perseverance. It would have been stressful but worth it in the end.Moneysaver1
