Does anyone know if there is a spending limit on TUI flights someone has told me you cannot spend more than £200 on the flight ?
This can be for security reasons, especially as payments can't be authenticated until on the ground.

I'm not sure of the exact limits, but Ryanair have the same. A lady had to split her purchases between 2 or 3 cards on duty free, but I wasn't paying attention as to exactly what the limits were.

ISTR a story about some scammer who'd get cheap flights and buy £100s in duty free on board using a card he knew was maxed out...

    Possible.

Each airline will have their own internal policy on ‘floor limits’ for credit card/debit card payments. These might also be split so for example up to £xx to use contactless, up to a further £xx to use Chip & Pin, over £xx to show extra photo ID when using.

The amount may in fact be set by the catering company rather than airline.  I think TUI and Easyjet use Dnata for onboard catering and inflight retail supplies.

Easyjet for example seem to be:-

    Up to £45 for contactless.
    Over £85 photo ID required.
    Up to £100 to swipe.
Up to £250 on Chip & Pin.

Limits are per person, not per card.

If you call your nearest TUI travel shop they'll answer that.

British Airways are are also cashless onboard.

I would imagine most airlines are the same now as it isn't worth the cost, hassle and risk of them handling it for relatively low amounts.
